Did you see this?

"A flood of angry phone calls from reform opponents shut down the Capitol switchboard ahead of the vote, overwhelming the message of a small klatch of immigrant-rights demonstrators urging passage outside the Capitol. Latino lawmakers from the House flooded onto the Senate floor to encourage the Senate to keep the legislation alive and let the House have a turn. But it was not even close.

"This immigration debate has become a war between the American people and their government," proclaimed Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), who led a small group of Republican senators who used every parliamentary maneuver they could find to stymie progress on the bill over the past month. "It transcends anything about immigration. It has become a crisis of confidence."

That sounds about right to me. What do you think?

Answer:
I think it is AWESOME that the switch board was shut down by the flood of calls!

I think we now need to call Alberto Gonzales Attorney General and starting asking where our fence is and tell him to start enforcing our existing laws.

What I think is ....to be continued!
Or any ones guess just like the way "The Sopranos" series ended! It's any ones guess from here 'til 2009 . Which by then another surge/flood,relief of undocumented immigrants, and new politians who will arrive to replace those that randomly get temporarily relocated back to their stomping grounds!
Since, how else will anyone know there whereabouts, motives and residencies?!
Personally wishful thinking!
Interesting to see how things will developed once the new boots arrive. As well how each town, city, state will continue to deal with the locals on both sides of the issue. Hopefully also Americans will be considered as you somehow claim will be the case once this would occur. Plus the new employee wage package deals or other benefits due to Americans.
Personally think it's wishful thinking but if proven wrong MY BAD!
Anyone who voted for the amnesty bill should be judged a enemy of America, kinda like in ancient Rome. Then anyone who harms or kills them never gets in trouble. Sure would make those buttheads pay more attention to the voters.
Yes, I did...they said it numerous times while they were on the Senate floor...Sounds right to me too. I am glad people did this..obviously SOME of them actually listened to what the American People were saying.
Amen to that. Finally, someone gets it.
Keep their feet to the fire and demand they get a border security first bill passed by the end of the summer or they're gone next time they are up for re-election. And make sure they enforce the current laws.
Sound about right to me!

I like how Sen. DeMint put this: "This immigration debate has become a war between the American people and their government."

My senators voted no also. It just kills me how sneaky and far some would go to try and pass something they knew most of us didn't want...that's ok, I won't forget them at election time.

The latino lawmakers need to accept what the LEGAL Americans want (and we Americans are made up of all races).
I owe a apology to Jim DeMint, for questioning his commitment to no amnesty, but we have to keep up the good fight, because the Latino lawmakers are going to keep up the pressure for amnesty. Sen. Corker said it best, The American people feel they are losing their country
I wrote Sen.Lindsey O. Graham to tell him to vote no, I received a email telling me the government need to pass the bill for a start. Lookm at the site he sent me.

Well said. Vote out ALL that supported this mess....
I agree!
The American public won an important battle today but not the war.
Did you notice how many senators were too scared to even vote?
If anyone has a non-voting Senator in your state, do some homework to see if they were for or against amnesty and vote accordingly. Don't let them hide in the shadows on such an important issue. Thank you!
No and I wouldn't put much trust in that link sense one of their major contributors are Arabs.
I agree . the government is just putting on a show.
From the link you provided..
Bush later told reporters he was disappointed by "Congress's failure to act" on immigration. He indicated that he and lawmakers would now turn their attention to other issues, notably the federal budget.

I wonder how true that is..or if he'll continue with behind closed doors efforts.

Now is the time to continue to keep up the pressure, show our elected officials that we will continue to scrutinize their actions. Remain the Unsilent Majority.
