Is Amnesty the right thing to do 4 first generation immigrants living here 4 a long time?

The right thing to do is to go back to their country and apply for legal immigration just like lots of good, honest people do every year.
Our people and our government agree that is NOT the right thing to do.
The bill that will pass will have to focus on the AFFECTS of mass immigration above our limits, funding schools etc, securing our border, enforcing our laws, and if there IS any increased legal immigration, making employers pay for their workers education and health care and benefits through impact fees. Developers have to do this all the time. The concept is hardly new. But the amendment that would have made employers of the new guest workers even give them HIGH DEDUCTIBLE health care plans failed because big business WANTS the taxpayers to subsidize their so called 'cheap labor'.
Do that right and I'd go along with a well screened legalization. However, American people and the impact on our own children's opportunities needs to be the focus, and in this bill, they'd be the victims, instead.
No- if they have been here a long time - they have had plenty of time to learn the legal ways to do things and chose not to.
If you want to become a legal resident , you make the choices that will allow you to become a legal resident.
You don't wait for people to hand it to you.
In case you didn't know, the amnesty bill got shot down.
Hell no.The government is weak and chicken **** to pass a law pertaining to illegal immigration. We need a bill that has some teeth and would send these damn wetbacks out of our country.
NO! Even if they've been here a long time, they are still ILLEGAL". They have chosen to break our laws and stay under the radar and they obviously made no attempt yet to become American citizens because they do not love this country. They don't want American citizenship. If they love their homeland so much, send them back and they can take their anchor babies with them!
ONLY people who love this country want to become a citizen...and there is a long line of them who have been waiting for years to become citizens. In order to say "yes" to illegals, you have to say "no" to those who have been waiting years. So, would THAT be democratic???
To give blanket amnesty to those who have lived here illegally contradicts America's commitment to allow a certain amount of DOCUMENTED immigrants to enter America each year. That "certain number" was calculated so that the number entering would not burden our resources, hospitals, schools, jobs, etc. The invasion of illegals HAS caused a great burden so far and only promises to worsen that burden in the near future unless it is STOPPED, period!
To become documented there is a lot of "filling out applications, medical testing, background checking and learning the English language & the Pledge of Allegiance for citizenship, etc." AND ILLEGALS PROVE THEY ARE TOO LAZY to do what is required.well then, too bad--go the heck home!
Why should America be expected to ignore it's laws, policies, and commitments by accommodating a massive group of criminals???
No. Citizenship should be granted to people who are willing to abide by the established laws for immagration. Rewarding people who show little respect for our laws over people willing to go through the proper channels negates the system. The outrage of the majority of our citizens over the last attempt to push a amnesty plan through should be enough to convince congress we already have laws in place that are not enforced. Why should we enact new and unpopular laws

The above laws happen to be the Immigration Laws of MEXICO.
No. Sorry but I know first hand how hard it is to come here the legal way and then spend years getting up to speed in our fast-paced, red tape laden economy. But even so, it can be done, the right way.
My wife came here legally on a working visa, with a skilled profession. After our marriage it took over seven years of official fees, red tape and discourtesy on the part of immigration service people before she ever got her citizenship. And the only reason she got it then is because we enlisted help from our senator.
So now Bush wants to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens who have virtually no skills and represent a drain on our services in the way of free education, free medical care, etc.
To me this is a slap in the face to all the foreigners who came here legally and endured all the hardships that was a part of this process.
