Now That The Immigration Bill Has Failed?

Do you think it would be a wise choice to enforce the existing laws?

(Ex. Build border fence, deport, arrest those who hire, etc).

Answer:
Yes, we can not give up at all...we need to push to have all current laws enforced, otherwise there is not any point to have laws.

I am going to be calling and asking around to see who I can bug about trying to get the laws enforced --as Americans, it is our RIGHT to have them enforced.
I would have been a good idea 27 years ago
Past due
What a concept - enforce laws. Great idea!
If they haven't changed the law, then why wouldn't they enforce the existing law?
You would think
Bush will refuse to do that.
Nobody should be allowed to enter the country illegally.
ME? Yes, hands down.

Will they? What do you bet not?
No. They don't really enforce them on a regular basis, anyway.

I think this country has wasted so much time and money on this issue. I think the real issue is that the government doesn't want to stop illegal immigration any more than they want to stop drugs. It is a moneymaker for them. I can barely stand to listen to the political hypocrisy.
they should have enforced those years ago we got too many foreigners who are taking over jobs that americans need so badly to make it in this life
Will never happen ..

Build a fence? They could easily blow parts of it up with grenades, make tunnels etc ..

Deport? How are they going to locate 12+ million people if they don't know who they are?

Arrest those who hire illegals? Where do you think our government gets most of it's money from? .. hint: It's not the people...BUSINESSES!

Tell you what ...since Americans are willing to do jobs that illegal do ----- I'll pay any of you who are willing to come to my home and take care of my dogs, my 2 kids, cook for me, do my laundry, mow my lawn, clean my house ALL OF THAT STUFF .. and I'll pay you ... $700 a month. What do you think? Oh, and you'll have to pay taxes on that too.
Novel Idea...Enforce the existing laws instead of making up new ones to not enforce.
Of course! Aren't laws supposed to be enforced? Knowing Bush, however, I'm sure they won't be enforced. It is common sense; if there are no jobs, they won't come here. The employers need to be dealt with.
I think anyone should get to this country that wants to ... of course as long as they do it legally. My family came here from Greece and didn't expect to be "welcomed." My uncle sponsored them. They took the legal route, worked hard to make something of their lives, and oh yeah, learned English. They didn't expect street signs, driving tests, directions when you call customer service, instructions when you buy something, or school classes to be taught in Greek.
If someone is seeking sanctuary here, if they are being persecuted for religious beliefs, then of course, make an exception. Otherwise, there's a path to follow and no excuse for diverting from it.
Border Fence: No. It's stupid. I think border partol by National Guard would be better, and a better use of their skills.

Deport: Yes. Case by case basis. If they're not attempting to actually apply for american citizenship through the correct channels and are sending all their $$ to their home country instead of contributing to taxes... why should they be allowed to stay.

Arrest Those Who Hire: No. But Heavy fines would be nice. If the boss is arrest, their business can still make money in the absense. HEAVY fines though will deplete revenue for everyday he employs them.
If we haven't been enforcing them all along, then no they are not going to start now. All the illegals are going to continue to live here, in the shadows, while the ones that commit murders and rape , and even worse crimes continue to go free because they don't have identification or papers. We should have had a reform! IT should have passed. At least we'd be able to find them all if they had ID's and licenses...instead we give them silent amnesty...let them stay as long as they want like they have the whole time while the real criminals go unpunished because we can't find them because we have no record of them..
Absolutely. I do not believe this country has the convenience of picking and choosing what laws to enforce. We should not only enforce the existing immigration laws, but also provide a suitable means of legal immigration for non-educated skilled workers.
I'm sick of congress wasting our time and money on stupid legislation. Keep calling and demand they get their heads out of their @sses and get something passed that the American people want, not what they want, or vote 'em out next time. Build the fence. Enforce current laws and make sure they are doing it. I want evidence. Visible evidence.
i agree with timothy...i think bush won't enforce our laws.

he is above the law ya know?
They should have done that to begin with instead of wasting all that money.
On the contrary, the immigration bill has succeeded fantastically. It could not have done better. President came off as a caring middle grounder. Republicans successfully blocked the legislature that their constituents viewed as unacceptable. Democrats probably gained more Hispanic voters now. And all this was accomplished without passing any bills! What do you mean the Immigration Bill has failed?
