What would be an exceptable Immigration reform bill??
here is an idea what should be proposed. what do you think?
1 Finish the FENCE, close the border securely
2. all illegals have 60 days to register.
3. all that have been convicted of crime are deported.
4. temporary work cards givin to workers, they will pay $5000 fine. pay FICA, TAXES, and SSI If they work here.
5. They apply for legal citizenship.
6. Failure to do so will result in perminant deportation.
7. No Anchor baby law.

Wow, you pretty much summed up everything I was going to say.
You forgot one. ANYONE with a work visa, or whatever they are calling it, can NEVER commit a crime in this country. If they do, their sentence will be the maximum allowed by law, and then they will be deported when they get out.
Letting them in here to a better life is OK. Letting them rob us blind is not.
None of that will do any good unless we get rid of social programs, welfare, and minimum wage laws that make it economically feasible for them to come here in the first place.
Sounds good. But #7 will never happen.
No guest worker provision, no path to citizenship. Enforce security on the border and in the interior. Punish employers that hire illegals.

If you did not come to this country legally get the huck out. My mother came here legally. She had to repeat her grade level until she learned English. If my mother was required to do this so should everyone else that wants to come to this nation. Fair is fair. Why should you get special treatment just because you are from south of the border? Amnesty is a bad thing.
And once here you should assimilate. I am a first generation American, and my primary language is English. Everyone should be as such.

8. Deport *any* illegal with a criminal record or evidence of criminal activity, such as gang activity (aside from the federal offense of sneaking into this country illegally).

They start their SSI and FICA at 0 on the day the fines are paid.
Must learn English and pass the citizenship test with in ten years. If they do a crime with in that time back they go.
Put gates in the fence so that works can get passes and be fingerprinted and a ID card made. If the worker does not work at the job given him at the gate he is sent back.
The fence must be done in 3years or less.
Sounds good - Don't think 7 will happen though. How about you replace # 7 with - Only citizens may apply for benefits social welfare, food stamps, etc.
The Law and or laws are just to intimidate the lessor informed. Immigration is a real problem and it is going to take more then intimidation to solve the problem
They need to close down the borders for awhile and get things straightened out here. Then there should be some sort of limit on how many can come over here each year.
#1 & #7 are the only acceptable options. When dealing with foreigners the K.I.S.S. approach is best.

A bill with too many provisos allows those D.C. lawyers too much room to maneuver.
