Have we reach the "point of no return " as far as illegal immigration?

The problem needs to be stopped going forward. It really is ruining our schools, and that is our children's future. People will not stand for that.
If there were serious screening, employed (or in school) no twice illegal (including no identity theft) and no gang members, and if they were given a 'special' legalization, a magenta card if you will, that does not give family unification rights, I'd be ok w/ legalizing the rest here. However that assumes the problem were solved going forward. The problem is that those in power are willing to make all sorts of gestures but not do anything to really stop the problem going forward. We need benefits and employment magnets dismantled, visa exit tracking, and real enforcement - all enforceable by citizen suit provisions, as environmental groups have a right to force enforcement of environmental laws.
It isn't that it is rocket science, it is that the large employers are making out like bandits with us subsidizing their illegal, cheap work force, and the big labor 'progressives' see the population inevitably swinging left as a result of mass poverty. We have to find a way to put different people in power.
I don't think it is a point of no return, but I think it is a crucial point in determining our future, going forward.
No, we haven't reached a point of no return. Illegal immigration will not be a topic until the '08 elections. I believe a guest worker program for those who have been here for 5 years or more, gainfully employed, with full payment of back taxes, would be the best method for all. Any illegals who are unemployed, been here less than 5 years, a criminal, and here other than for political reasons, should be returned to the Mexican border. Most Mexicans come here for better opportunities. They take jobs that most Americans wouldn't even bother to do. But, they need to come in orderly fashion, as did those who arrived here throughout our history, such as at Ellis Island in NYC. We'll always be a land of immigrants, but we have to seal up the borders the best way possible for our security.
I do think the illegals from Mexico has gotten way of of hand, it needs to be stopped. One's who are not here legally needs to be sent back. I think the border should be closed. If Mexicans want to come to US, they need to go through the process legally, get finger printed, photographed , have birth certificates from Mexico so we will at least know who they are. We have to do all this, just to get drivers license, they need to do this also.

Immigration will never end. Movement of humanity has wound it's way around the globe for thousands of years.
Why would it stop? The world is just a big Rubik's Cube, constantly in flux.
Get used to it - nothing stays the same. Everything is constantly changing.

US citizens and US companies looking for cheap labor.

1.Stop blaming immigrates for trying to make a better life for themself, we all would do the same thing if we had too.
2.Hold the US companies and US citizens that are hiring illegal immigrates accountable. If noone is given them jobs then they would not come here.
Now personally I welcome anyone who wants to come to this country but that was not the original question.
No, it will change. The people here are not going to accept it the way it is.
The US is quietly deporting more and more illegals on a daily basis. It's come to the point of no return for the illegal aliens. Once deported, if they are caught in the country again, it is a felony.
from what i see there is some major cracking down going on. my husband had to lay off 2 mexicans cause they can not longer get a drivers licence.
excellent workers and wonderful people..kind of a shame there isn't an easy legal path.

No, we have not reached the point of no return. Impeach the people who are supposed to be protecting United States sovereignty but continuously put up roadblocks, obstacles so they and their wealthy friends can continue to profit from cheap labor.
Elect people who will protect the people, wildlife, soil and wilderness areas of this country being decimated by human overpopulation.
No. Slowly but surely American are being heard and deportations are beginning. Amazing what a sense of entitlement illegal invaders have.
i don't know. i think the american people are tired and has had enough of the illegals. we now have 4 people shooting them. we now have the KKK stirred up. i knew this would eventually happen. maybe are govt don't know how to fix the problem with out starting a war with mexico. and really don't care that the american people are doing something about it.
No we have not, deportations are possible. And as said before, cut out all aide, jobs and rentals then the illegals will leave on their own, no need for deportations. The president has said that deportations are too expensive and that its not feasible blah blah etc. etc. But I would ask him this, how did we get to this point..........lax border, lax security and NO enforcement.......if these things would have been dealt with accordingly then we would not be in this predicament.
