So, I was adopted from Turkey (buy my Swedish mother and Turkish father). I was a baby when I was adopted and brought to the US. I got my US citizenship as a little boy and have lived here my whole life. Anyways, I want to get my citizenship back with turkey. You know the whole "duel citizenship" deal? Not because I don't love the US...I do and I think it is the greatest nation on earth, but because you know...I figure what the hell...I would like to get in touch with some of my roots and serve in their army for 6 months (compusitory millitary service). Anyways is this possible since I became an American citizen. Like when I reach 18 can I choose the "duel" citizenship thing? Would be great to know.I just really feel like doing that because it would be a fun thing to do after high school to go join the Turkish army for 6 months. I would join the US army...but you know...it would be a cooler experience to do it in turkey and you don't have to sign up for 2 years. Thanks in advance!

Did your adoptive parents renouce your Turkish citizenship when you were a kid? May sure you've actually lost that by heading over to the Turkish embassy and asking them (it is possibly you may have automatically lost it when you gained American citizenship or you may still have it).
In any case talk to your dad because if he's Turkish he should be able to help you out (and you'll need them to help you fill out the forms, especially with the parental consent).

I love Turkey!! I spent a whole summer there. You should consult with the Turkish consulate or embassy in your area, see if they offer dual citizenship. Good luck!
