Why did the senate block the immigration bill?

Answer:
They bend to the will of the American people, or they didn't want to hear it from the American people over their next summer break, either way it was the correct thing to do
It passed by 66% yesterday voting in the house later int he week probably on the 4th of july.. IRONIC AINT IT
Because it was a piece of crap and their constituents made it very clear how they felt about it.
because it was a piece of crap legislation that the American people LOUDLY proclaimed as crap. those politicians knew better.

DAR- lol, nice wordage.
Because it is their job to delay and pass later.
it was the right thing to do
Because it is a very, very bad bill.
Because it's amnesty, and they want to use it as a political weapon in the election.
It was unfair and ridiculous. Why should we say it's illegal to come here without going through the proper channels and then reward the criminals by letting them stay here for an additional 6 years while they drain the economy?
Because the president doesn't want to play nice.
B/C "legal" citizens are getting tired of the BS.
I'm glad it did not pass
We made it plain it was not what the citizens wanted.
80% of Americans were against it. And adamantly against it.

I marched, called, wrote, protested, and spoke to every person I know. Most of us are fighting mad. We are now going to go on the offensive and fight for jail time for illegal empoyers.
Because they must do what is right for U.S. citizens. Now lets enforce our laws, labor & immigration!!
Maybe because some of them have a conscience and don't want the USA to disappear into the North American Union between Mexico, the USA and Canada?
B/C congress and the "Amecian People" don't have the balls to deal with such a large issue.
Because we "THE AMERICAN CITIZENS" notified our Senators through phone calls and email that we did not want this bill to pass and the majority listened!
Because it's garbage and they know that their jobs are in jeopardy if they vote for it. Too bad they are to spineless to vote for border security first. I'm voting against them anyway because thats what they should have been voting for all along. They're wasting our time and money, and as an employee of the American voter they ought to be let go.
BECAUSE THEY FINALLY LISTENED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!( THEY WANT TO STAY IN OFFICE) NOW WE GOT TO TELL THE WE WANT OUR BORDERS SECURED!!! BUILD THE WALL!!
Probably because 80% of America was against the bill and they couldn't with solid reasoning vote for the bill and explain to the people why they ignored our demands.

There was no merit to this bill- it would not serve the needs of American citizens and there is no need to cater to anyone other than the citizens of America while making legislative decisions.
If you want rights, enter this country legally and become a contributing member of this representative democracy - otherwise pack your bags and hit the road jack
Because it's the right thing for our country!
If U.S. legalized undocumented workers, companies that hire them have to increase pays and pay taxes. By keeping the illegal immigrants in illegal status, US businesses can keep a large pool of cheap labor.
For example, a highrise condo developer can hire 50 illegal immigrants and pay them under the table. And there is no need to file W4 in behalf of the workers and pay income taxes. So a developer can save a huge chunk of money.
However, everyday citizens must pay taxes that support illegal aliens' medical, social, and educational bills.

In summary, Republicans would like to keep a large pool of cheap labor. The real cost of keeping such labor force is put on the back of American tax payers. Some debate about "legal status" about "illegal status" seems to me a bogus front. What really matters is who's paying for the cost?
