I am sponcering my half sister to come and visit as a tourist..?

When you are sponcering someone, what would be the down side of that?
What happen if that person, went missing, get really sick?
Any good link out there that directly answer my question?

A tourist Visa does not require a sponsor...good luck!
In sponsoring your family member, you agree to be responsible for that person. In case of an emergency, medical or otherwise, you need to be able to deal with it.

Another option: She can purchase a temporary health plan for the time she is visiting.
When you are sponsoring someone you are the one responsible for all her needs financially. I think you need to get a medical insurance for her if she is already there. And if she get lost I think the problem is your conscience. Anyway don't think about if she get lost. The main problem is if the visa will be granted
