What is the difference between an illegal alien, and a resident alien?
Answer:
Illegal aliens are from Mars, Venus, and parts of Jupiter. Resident aliens are from the moon and Neptune.
Nothing... BOTH are ILLEGAL. Both are disrespecting the laws of the United States.
An illegal alien is someone who is completely illegal and a resident alien, I believe is someone who has their green card, but isn't a citizen yet.
One followed the law and one broke the law.
Whoever came up with the concept of "Alien" is deserving of a vicious slap. It is so dehumanizing and xenophobic, yet another characteristic of our immigration policy. No other country uses a term like that.
The difference is simple. One has a document validating their residdence and work in this country and the other lives and works in this nation without that document. That is the difference.
the resident alien is legal the other is not is that so hard to figure out
I am a resident alien. In actual fact, I am a permanent resident. By definition it means I have a Green Card and have all of the rights of an American citizen but I cannot vote. You don't have to have a Green Card to be here legally (you can hold a Work or School Permit) but either way you NEED to have a document called an I-94 in order to be here and have a Social Security number.
An illegal alien is someone who is living here illegally (does not have the proper documentation to be here). A lot of illegal immigrants are also working and being paid "under the table". This is both illegal in the standpoint of the immigrant AND the employer.
Hope this helps.
A resident alien has a legal right to reside here, but isn't a citizen. Alien means foreigner.
A resident alien is a permanent resident or a green card holder. They have many of the rights of a citizen, but cannot vote. After 5 years of holding a green card and living in the US, one can apply for and become a Naturalized Citizen of the US.
Illegal aliens are ones without valid immigration paperwork.
All foreigners in the US are "aliens" - until they become citizens.
firstable; not all the illegal alien are mexican they came from different part of the world. Second the difference is that the resident alien is here legally since the illegal one is here illegaly. That all. If you have any paper like citenship, green card, employment permit, resident or a passport you are here legally if dont you you are against the law.
