Are immigration laws difficult for Americans to get Australian citizenship? I am interested in obtaining dual citizenship with Australia and my home nation (USA). I am a college graduate from a 4 year university with a BA in Business.
Answer:
It's actually pretty difficult. I'm in the process of trying to get a spousal, permanent residence visa. Citizenship is quite difficult, unless you have family here, or have special unique skills like a surgeon. The immigration site has all the details. I know the just inacted a law requiring a test of Australian history and English for citizens. I wish you the best of luck! I'll be waiting for the next two years for my visa to go through.
