Well what do you expect people to refer to? Where is the problem coming from? It isn't coming from outer space, it is coming from the borders, specifically the border with mexico. What seems so wrong about expecting people to obey the law?
I'm not complaining about jobs being stolen, I'm complaining about the rising cost of social services, overcrowding of schools and crime.
You say your parents are immigrants? Did they enter the country legally? If they did, it is because they followed the law, including the time they have to wait to be approved. They belong here and are welcomed as law abiding citizens. They contribute to society, work hard, pay their taxes and are a part of the nation they ask to call home. If they didn't come here legally, they should be held accountable for the law that was broken. If this means deportation, so be it. Follow the law, or pay the price. There are no free rides!

We don't have a problem with mexicans or hispanics. We have a problem with law breaking people of any nationality, including native born americans. Build more prisons! If we lock up the lawbreakers, they can't break laws. Open your eyes and see the crime, not the color/race/background of the person committing the crime.

I think people in this country would have more and better opportunities if people didn't come illegally from other countries to take what isn't thiers.
I am talking about those illegally from any country, but since more come illegally from Mexico than from all other countries put together, and 75% of illegals come from Latin America altogether, it is natural to look at the southern border. However, a visa exit tracking system to catch those who overstay is definitely necessary as well.

Well, I definitely agree that the basic points of the Senate bill would have been better if they hadn't voted down the amendment to ban all gang members and felons from being legalized. Unfortunately, there is junk in the boilerplate that is horrible, and would not be addressed by a 'targetted amendment' in any event. I've pretty much given up on getting a decent bill out of this administration, to tell the truth.
Sure they mostly talk about the illegal Mexicans. Where do MOST of the illegals come from? Where is it easiest to sneak across the border? I rest my case!

As for "jobs being stolen," THEY ARE! When they raid a company and deport the illegals working there, do you notice the huge line of AMERICANS applying for the jobs?

Do u see how they contradict themselves? Jessica Rabbit says "where do most illegals come from and where is it easiest to cross?" but then she says she doesn't care where they come from. I think she has a thing against Mexicans or Hispanics and then to cover her hate she says but I don't care where they come from. which is typical of most anti-illegals here.

The people from Mexico are the vast majority in this situation. I personally am sick and tired of the LAWS BEING BROKEN. Broken by all the border jumpers and THE LOW-LIFES THAT EMPLOY THEM. If the ILLEGALS were not here the jobs would be taken by AMERICANS.

When thinking of illegal immigrants, although they can come from anywhere, we think of Mexicans because they comprise the great majority of such. Its immaterial if an opportunity has been stolen from Americans when people come here illegally. So if someone breaks into your house, that's okay with you? I mean, after all, they weren't lucky enough to have been born in your house. Well, America is my house! PS: Hopefully, your parents are here legally.

Sure they refer to all illegal immigrants but it falls on the Mexicans because there are so many illegal mexicans in this country. About 10 to fifteen million and more arriving each day.
The reason its such a big issue is all about money.
Illegal workers save corportations billions of dollars. They do all the crap work for low pay. If you go down to new orleans the illegal mexicans are the ones rebuilding the whole state after hurrican katrina.
Here in florida all the people building roads int he hot sun and building all the new homes are Mexicans. They make about 75 to 100 dollars a day while an amercian would ask for twice that amount.
Companies are making more moneyb ecause they can pay them less money..
Illegal immigrants also spend billions of dollars each year on food, cars, taxes. Can you imagine if they sent 10 to 15 million poeple back to mexico. There would be a lot of companies closing their doors becaue no one would shop at these places.
Now the issue falls more on the fact that there is not enough money to school and provide healthcare for all these people. A lot of times these people are illiterate and simply do manual labor. While there is demand for this kind of work there is also a big demand for doctors, nurses, and teachers. So you see. If the mexicans that were coming here were professionals then no one would really make an issue they would be welcomed.
I agree that maybe some jobs are being stolen but really americans complain too much. They want health cares, pensions, vacations, benefits and this cuts into a companies profit margins.
Bush really doesn't mind the immigrants being here that's why he hasn't made such a big issue. its other officals that are making a stick out of this.
One thing I would say is that gas would be cheaper if therre weren't so many illegal immigrants. There would be a bigger supply which would lower the price because the deman would be smaller.
Honestly now, who are the majority of illegal aliens. If you are child of legal immigrants, I would think you'd be one of the most appalled at what the illegals are doing. There are plenty of opportunities for legal people in this country but not for illegals. There are lazy people in America just as everywhere else, but most of us do seize the opportunities that are presented to us. Agree or disagree?

also, i would warn people to keep an open mind when reading and watching the media. most people know that the media is no longer fair and unbiased. for instance if you watched the news in the early part of our war with iraq, the media was downplaying the amount of lives lost, however if you compared american news to international news the picture was much bleaker. and locally just to make a point, where i live there are two major hospitals and two major local news channels with definite alliances to each hospital, for instance, there was a lost body that made it out to the dumpster of hospital A (a major pr problem for the hospital), this huge story only made it to one news station and interestingly it was the news station that had alliances with the competing hospital B. so just making a point, take the news with an open mind and dont believe everything you read and hear.

Not very many immigrants enter the US illegally from China or Australlia... there's no easy border to cross. Hopping a ship or plane is a little trickier than a land crossing on foot or by land vehicle.
The issue is numbers. When there are millions of people from Mexico in the US illegally, THAT'S where most of the focus will be.
As an illegal alien cannot openly participate in the "open" economy, the "underground" economy is more used.
