Have you seen the Farmington requirements for school registration?

"All new students must bring a current immigration record, a social security card, and proof of residency (such as property tax statement, rental agreement, utility or telephone bill). Kindergarten students must provide a birth certificate.
A photo ID will be taken of students in grades 7-12."
Answer:
While this is the right thing to do, I will bet that the ACLU, or, and La Raza will file to challenge this administrative action.
On one hand we have our government that wants to listen in on phone calls, put us on no fly lists, check out what we checked out in the library, but when we request that the people that avail themselves of our tax payers funded programs, to prove they are entitle to such programs, it is a invasion of their rights.
PS Yes they are state laws, but when some states wanted to deny schooling the kids in K-12 that were here illegally, it went all the way to the supreme court, and the state laws were over turned. Is this not the same government
Sounds like a good idea.
WOW imagine that. A facility willing to enfore the law.
Now that's what I'm talking about!!
Sounds good to me. In my city we run a 6 week summer school just for migrant children and they dont have to provide any ID or documentation. Then the school district cuts programs for our children as we have no money to sustain them.
I agree 100%. Illegals are costing our schools a fortunate. Many american children are now being ousting out of schools due to overcrowding. And the reason for the overcrowding: ILLEGALS!!
All nice but my question is.how do they check to be sure that all the they bring is not false? And wouldn't children of illegal immigrants have a social security card and the proof of residency. Though I could see that this might cause problems for people that have lost documents in fires or other natural disasters such as the Hurrican Katrina victims. Doubt any of them left with their social security card in hand. But i'm sure they have all this figured out.
Sounds like a bunch of bull to me. Well unless Farmington happens to be a private school. But if they are publicly funded I have a hard time punishing children for the decisions of their parents. Its not the children's fault they happened to be born in a different country and were brought here illegally. I say teach the kids even if they are illegal. I would if I was a teacher. It just seems cruel not to.
In fact, can a child commit the crime of entering the country illegally? Is that even possible? I don't think they have the capabilities to orchestrate or finance such a crime.
The schools were a mess way before "illegal immigrants" showed up. Scapegoating the children of illegal immigrants isn't the solution. The gov't has the means to right the educational system. They just choose not to do it, i.e. "No Child Left Behind".
