well here's my story. I was born in Uruguay, South America and then i moved here with my family when i was 1. We obtained a small visa for us to come here and we were supposed to apply for asylum when we got here 6 months before the visa expired, but my dad had a temporary green card and so he was waiting so it can become a permanent one. Unfortunately, it took 8 years for the immigration services to make a decision and now this year in februrary, it was denied. So now they're applying for asylum. Is there any other way to to apply for myself so i can somehow get a temporary legal status here and then i can apply to get a job and drive? Please help.

I am very sure that when you are applying for visas related to Asylum you will get a temporary permit to stay and drive and work. For more information go to Google and type INS, and the official site will be there. Go to it and you will find tons of information.
