How many middle-aged Mexicans are coming to the U.S. with collecting Social Security as their main objective?
These people will work here long enough to qualify for Social Security, but they certainly won't have paid into Social Security for as many years as most of the rest of us have.
I'm afraid that these people will keep the Social Security going in the short run, but will over burden it in the long run.
Are we making a mistake by not putting age and skill requirements on our immigrants like other countries have?
Answer:
If they get amnesty, work seven years..retire...draw SS check.
Hmm...I'll work from 18 part-time..from 22 full-time. Retire at 67.
No matter how you look at it...that's not kosher.
Cost projections for that dang bill was $2.4 to 2.6 trillion in SS benefits, Medicare, etc. Devastating.
well first off it really doesnt matter... i'm 23 and having been paying into ss since i was 15 i wont see any of that anyways because it will be completely depleted by the time i reach the age of collection...
when you or i get ready to retire, social security will be a thing of the past. not even the immigrants who are coming here now will be able to get it.
So they'll work here long enough to become citizens -by our own laws- and you have a problem with them collecting SSI as Americans?
Don't be stupid, they can not collect if they don't have a valid status in the US.
Anyone illegal can not collect social security and you can only collect for the years you have put in. If you are illegal and do not have valid SS# and proof of residency or legal residency while you were working in the US you will not be able to collect. You also will have to have a valid US address to send check and have someone else transfer your funds for you or can direct deposit it to a US bank account but you will still have to find a way to send funds. Those old folks you see coming here are actually coming to work ( wow what a concept) and those that have paid taxes still may not be able to collect ss due to their eligibility status.
dont worry, soon they will be paying into it.
