Why do people assume...?

that if we are against illegal immigration, we are against all immigration. Especially the people who support illegal immigration. Is there anyone in America who is against any and all immigration? I support immigration as long as it's legal.

Answer:
I think people should have to earn their way into any country, regardless if they are immigrating to America or Europe.
When my great grandparents came to America from Denmark the only way their immigration papers would be signed were if they proved they knew English and if my great grandfather would join the US Army. Even with the threat of Germany invading Denmark my great grandparents waited until they were legally admitted before comming over.

What I don't understand is what's the rush? Is Mexico being invaded and I don't know about it? Is Mexico at war? Is Ireland facing a huge famine again? Is China being overtaken by Japan? Etc.
Why not have some respect for the country you want to move to and wait until you get a work-visa, a greencard, whatever... just take the time and show some respect, you don't even necessarily have to join the military like my Great grandfather did, but you do have to do the paper work like he did or else you aren't welcome.

Its not like America is the greatest country to live in, that's not why they are illegally immigrating here (as of last year #1 place in the world to live was Norway, America was #7 or 8). They come to America because it is impossible, or next to impossible to illegally enter most other countries and survive... and because America will accomodate them and their language rather than forcing them into learning the dominant (its not official yet) language which at this time is English.

PS. I noticed a lot of people talking about making legal immigration less difficult and time consuming... well, I'm looking into legally immigrating to Germany once we are done with the US military, and it is much more difficult, by far, to become a German citizen than an American. Its true for Denmark, Sweden, and Norway too (other countries I would love to live in). The US has one of the easiest forms of legal entry, compared to many European countries. Its not that hard, people are just too lazy.. when someone wants to immirgate to Europe, they have to really work at it and they generally do because you can't illegally live in at least Germany their laws are too strict on that issue.
Because they are not intelligent enough to know the difference...
because there are people on your side that are complete isolationists who think all immigration and multiculturalism is bad.

you'd be very surprised how many people dont like immigration...the people that say all the muslims should be kicked out and stuff like that
Maybe there jealous or something, I don't know.

STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!
hey we are all from immigrants unless you are an indian,
I dont understand it either. I dont understand how people support illegal immigration, it is illegal for a reason. I can understand how people dont want them deported, but I simply dont see another way around it, it has gotten out of hand to the point where we have to take a hard line stance on this issue. We must also fix our immigration system, then maybe it would be easier to come in legally.
People who are pro-illegal immigration see it as inhumane that a person could be a against anyone someone who comes to USA for a better life. Whether the immigrant broke the law or not is a trivial concept to them.
This is a great country and we should allow all kinds of people to join us , as long as they are willing to follow the rules!
if you come across the border Illegally or if you over stay your Visa, you gotta go!

The American Dream is not free.
Why ?
because we are not gullable enough or naive enough to beleive that. Republicans ? The rule of LAW ?
Please !
Why dont you just admit that you fear people who look and speak diffeerent then you do ?
People don't assume this...they intentionally omit the word "illegal" in the classic "smoke and mirrors" tactic to imply that those of us, who want everyone to have an opportunity to come to America, are actually opposed to immigration.

It is ridiculously difficult to come to USA legally and ridiculously easy to come illegally. We need to flip this around.
Trying to give us a guilt trip.It doesn't work on this subject. we are all immigrants. we just want other people to follow our laws or stay out. If our Congressmen and women do not support us on this subject, we need to take every one of them and make sure they join the ranks of the unemployed. I kept my list on who voted for the amnesty bill. So far , every candidate from both parties that are running for President and in office right now voted for the amnesty. Rudy and Romney said they would vote against it as well as Thompson. All Democratic candidates who hold office or not was in favor of the amnesty bill.
Don't forget this come election time.
Hmmm. Could it be because most people who oppose illegal immigration without concern for why it exists suffer from an incredibly narrow understanding of economics and probably can't understand the value of legal immigration?

Until all the jingoistic 'real' Americans insist that the horrible politicians they have forced on the rest of us fund and enforce existing immigration laws they don't have the right to complain about the situation.
They know better.they just refuse to ADMIT it. Because then it would be no fun for them and they couldn't be hating and bigoted in their posts

So they post as if we never say--repeatedly--it's illegal immigrants we are against. They skip right past that part, because it doesn't suit their trolling agenda.

Or they say we are lying (read above). More of their own hating and bigotry trolling agenda.
For English, press #1, for Spanish , press # 2.
I cannot recall ever hearing, for English press #1, for Italian press # 2, or for Polish, press # 3.
Wanna be here, then learn the f@@@@@@@@@@@@ language, don't demand that we learn yours.

It is not rocket science to uderstand that a person who cannot speak English will not get a good paying job.
You are right. I'm all for people coming to America legally but I don't think they should do it illegally and live here for free. I also think they shouldn't be given a free pass.Like you said, you still have family waiting to come here so why should we let them come here illegally and stay here free and clear while families are still waiting to come here legally. It's people like cosmo a that try to make it a race issue when it is all about law.
Because the illegals want to be lumped in with a respectable group of people.

The vast majority of Americans are fine with immigrants, what we are upset about the the flagrant abuse of our laws. And the fact that there are American criminals enabling them is no justification.
I KNOW I LIKE THTA
Look at this way, immigration is immigration, doesn't matter how they get here.
You anti-illegals make it seem that you don't want any type of immigration here. OK?
Because they want to cause problems and create an atmosphere of hatred. If they can convince legal immigrants that we don't want them either, then that helps them justify their belief in our being wrong and them being right.
It is a ploy by illegals and their bleeding heart supporters to try to criminalize those who are against the influx of illegal immigrants into our country.
I watched one of the Republican debates and Tancredo said that he was against LEGAL immigration for now,so ya there's a few
There are three types of people in this debate. The first type is against illegal immigration, but is ONLY against that type of immigration. The second is the one who is against immigration period. The third is for illegal immigration and all types of immigration. I support legal immigration, but not illegal immigration, but I don't take extreme stances like some people do here (like shooting on sight, building a wall)...if you ever take a politics class or something of that sense you'll realize walls and shooting people isn't going to work well to the countries advantage, instead other measures like punishing employers who hire illegals, encourage countries where the majority of illegals come from to provider better opportunities, etc..but so far no one has suggested such a thing because it takes "work" something our politicians do not understand.
