Ellis Island question?

Ok, this is kind of a follow up to my earlier question... if you had any family that came through Ellis Island, what stories did they tell of their experiences? I had 3 g-grandparents come through, and they said they hated the weeks of quarantine on the ship. They said it was a terrible tease to sit in the harbor, and see the shore, but to have to stay on board, worrying if they'd be accepted or rejected once they got off the ship.

Answer:
My family came over from Norway in 1910. Apparently, my great-grandmother met my great-grandfather aboard the ship. When they got off the ship they had no family or anything. So they decided to move out to Idaho and have a farm. My great-grandfather Nels, along with a bunch of other immigrants built railroads. I never heard about any of their stories on the way over, because my father said when they were alive they didn't talk about those type of things. Apparently, life was tough on the way over and it wasn't considered proper so they just moved on with life and never told anybody about their lives in Norway or their early days in America.
My grandfather came over from Italy on a ship called the Providence. He was about 12. There was a girl who died of typhoid during the voyage. As a precaution they quarantined everyone that was on her deck, the deck below and the deck above, which included my grandfather and his family.
No, I haven't had any family of immagration, but I have delt with alot of co workers of immagration, and I feel that It should be allowed. Most of them come here for just a better life. Alot of them actually send money home just to support their families. So I really don't see how that is really hurting anyone. What is the different that they have a different view on life prespectives. If they are just trying to live a comfrontable life. Why, should anyone have a problem wit that. In the end we are all human being just trying to support his or her family and make it in this world. So why are we making it harder for someone else to do the same.
the only way they would have been rejected is if they was sick. the govt did not want sick deseases people coming here. that's why we have immigrations, the people who are coming in is suppose to be checked by a medical Dr. with illegals coming in they are not checked. we will have diseases we got rid of. TB is starting up again.
My husband's family came through Ellis Island. Don't know any stories but I saw their names on the wall.

They call it the Isle of Tears (or something like that). Many could not stay and it was heartbreaking to them.

They were immigrating LEGALLY, unlike the 20+ million that are here ILLEGALLY!
My paternal great grandmother came from Ireland.I don't have any stories, but I do have a couple of pictures of her and this HUGE chest she brought her belongings in. I doubt if it cost 600usd just to get a visa to come here back then like it does now.
got to the web site, follow links for stories of immigrants. also check library of congress for letters, and stories.
