Social Security Number Issues?
I am currently working on a J1 and have applied for my SSN but there are issues with immigration which in turn delays my SSN processing. The problem I have is that my employers refuse to pay me because I dont have it but continue to employee me, I have been told its illegal but nobody backs this up.

If you have a verifiable a-number (alien registration number) and a visa stamped in your passport that is a real J1 that is not expired, you have the right to be here and to work as stipulated by the terms of your visa and your sponsor. Record all your hours, get documentation of previous hours worked and any wage agreements that you made with teh firm, then get a lawyer...FAST!
Working and not being paid is wrong but only illegal if you are a CITIZEN.
Time to quit that job and straighten out the SS mess. You gain nothing by working without $...AND it is possible they will never pay you. Did you think of that?

I wonder how many pro-illegal voters would change their tune if some crooked employer allowed illegals to use their newborns and toddlers SS#'s; it happens all the time even though Geraldo says it's OK.
