Reasonable question. I fear any country that has immigration laws as lax as the UK may be in trouble, in the very near future. Apply the immigration laws as they stand now to every nationality that wants to emigrate to the UK. Consider education and self sufficiency, past criminal records etc. before permitting entrance no matter what ethnic back ground they have.
That will only happen if the UK is too infected with political correctness and allows muslims to have different rules applied to them as to the general population. If as some American liberals want the UK sees tolerance as providing islamics the ability to practice intolerance than the UK will become dhimmini

It really would be pointless to make the UK an Islamic country. The Muslims come to the UK because they know that they can only live in peace and prosperity while in a country with Christian based laws. If the UK became Islamic, it would be ruled under Sharia Law, and then everyone would end up living 500 years in the past like other Islamic countries.
Theoretically possible, but a practical impossibility. Muslim values and Muslims will continue, in the most part, to form part of a more diverse culture. That simply enlarges what the society contains and takes nothing away from anyone. Equally, no one wants the nutters regardless of their religion or lack of it. All races and religions have their share of basket cases but they are seldom a true representation of the majority. The majority who quietly go about their business in a law abibing way are just not newsworthy.
There is legitimate concerns and questions associated with this. However, usually in a democratic State there is no distinction made between religions, as there is usually a clear line between the State and religion.
Countries that are identified as Muslim, are so identified because a religious theocracy rules the State and thus its people. It does not follow that this can also be a democratic State under the widely held definition.
It is possible for a country to be composed predominantly of one religious preference, yet not be deemed to be a specific religious nation.

Around 2.7% of the population in the UK are Muslim, I can't imagine a 'take over' any time soon. However, your theory is not unheard of..it was, in fact, a policy of the Israeli government in Palestine. (ie. mass migration to ensure majority rule)

You people are insane. Muslims make up less than 3% of the population of Britain, and that's after more than 50 years of sustained immigration. This is absolutely never, ever going to happen. You may as well be worrying about a flood of native Americans.
It's a fine question. The projection in France, where currently Muslims make up about 10% of the total population, is that France will be a majority Muslim country by 2050. It's not quite so bad in the UK but you can imagine what a frightening scenario it will be when Muslims make up even a mere 35% of the population. The problem is twofold:
1.) Immigration
which is rooted in problem
2.) Birth rates
There are too few young people to support the top-heavy welfare system with lots of old folks and few young workers. So countries import immigrants who in turn have a lot more kids. In Europe there is a a truly suicidal journey going on here where Islam will be the dominant social force. It will be calimitous for the world, too. There still is hope, to be sure. Perhaps Christianity can make a surge in Europe and birth rates and a deeper sense of the value of western society will reappear and all will be righted.

You should shut up. I am British born and bread, Scottish in fact. From my earliest memories growing up in Glasgow there where always Muslims around. They where my neighbors, family friends of my parents, class mates and i am talking the 70's at primary school. There was no where in Glasgow that Muslims do not live as well as Sikhs, catholics, Protestants, Christians, Jews, Mormons you name it Glasgow has it. I am proud to have grown up in a multicultural society. I dont know where you live in the UK but Muslims are nothing new to me, they are part of British society and here to stay. Why was no one asking your question in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's? Simply because no one cared Muslims lived quiet and peacefully and no noticed them anymore than any other group of people.
What is it you are suggesting "they have constructed elswhere"? I have never seen any evidence of a single muslim wanting to change how you live, only to be left in peace to live how they live.
And for your info not all muslim come to the UK from somewhere else there are thousands of british born muslims, and british converts, muslims come in every colour and every race. I myself converted to Islam over 2 years ago and i am a white, blue eyes, Scot so as you can see i have "come from" no where this is my home, my land, my country and as a muslim i certainly dont want to change anything about how you live, its no skin of my nose. Why is my life as a muslim all of a sudden you business? Can you answer that?
One more point its 1.5 billion not 1.4 billion and constantly rising. If you are uncomfortable with that i suggest you look in the mirror and ask yourself why it bothers you. As muslim have been in the UK a very long time, why does it bother you now and not before?

in many schools where there is a high 'minority' population, kids are having to learn other languages so it is easier for the minorities kids.

i find that very hard to believe, there are mosques everywhere now, we (UK) are trying our best to make these people feel welcome (not just muslims) yet they seem to want more and more so an islamic state should not be ruled out

No, it is not fair to say that. Last time I checked, we were not in the habit of declaring state religions. So even if the UK is currently full of christians, it is not a christian country.
