As a Candian citizen (born in the US) can I work in the US without having to be sponsored by a company?

Is there a way to pay your way independantly? Or are there other options besides having to be sponsored in (especially since I was born in the US)? Thank you for your help!

Talya, I will guess that your parent(s) were Canadian? You can claim American citizenship just by being born in the US (jus soli). Therefore as such, you have all the rights and privileges of a citizen since the day you were born.**
If you were born in the U.S. you are a U.S. Citizen. As a U.S. Citizen you can work in the U.S. without any special permits from the CIS office. What you need to do is to obtain a Social Security Card and make sure you pay federal taxes.

It really does not matter if you have any other citizenship.
Do you have proof of citizenship? If so then you should be OK.

Having a Passport and a Social Security will be enough to fulfill the employer tests of citizenship by law for any job.
If you were born in the US aren't you also a US citizen? If so just show your birth certificate and pick up a social security card.
If you were born here then you are a citizen... prove that and you are home free.
