I am an american and was wondering how difficult would it be to apply for a temporary work visa in these your country? What type of labor is prefered? I am looking for either truck driving or something that is low skilled in the medical field (as of now I am a registered nurse's assistant in the US.)

At the moment there is a shortage of fruit pickers in the UK (and Europe) but most seem to be European students employed under a scheme with the acronym SAWS (Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme)

hi I hav no idea about visas but I do know that there is a growing industry in care work in the community. So when you get here you could try with Local government, hospitals or private companies to do care work.
Truck driving is relatively very low paid, unless you have a licence to drive the largest lorries. I drive a small truck, but there are very few well paid opportunities for small truck drivers these days. It's much better to choose the medical industry. Nurses are leaving by the dozen though, as the working conditions (not enough nurses to do the work) are very poor.
we have every nationality working here at the present time so it cant be hard for you,r u any good at peeling potatoes?

Why on earth would you want to come to the UK? The place is a hole where you are taxed to death and is full of Illegal immigrants who want to overthrow the government and kill you.
People in the UK want to emigrate for a better life elsewhere because the UK is terrible.
My advice is try somewhere else, the grass is not greener on this side.
I would think that you've have to contact a department in the Home Office in this country (details of these are on the Home Office UK website) or maybe the immigration department here, or the equivalent department in America that can advise you on temporary visas, so that you'll be able to get the ball rolling. If you contact the wrong place they will probably advise you who to contact next. Do you have a citizens advise bureau in America like we have they, they will give you free advise and help you get in touch with just about anyone.
Not sure about the job availability here but I do know that they sometimes have difficulty in some areas of the country filling low skilled jobs as the pay is generally quite low, although we do have a minimum wage law here. You say you have worked as a nurse's assistant, at the moment there is a shortage of nurses in this country, if you have any nursing qualifications or experience I think this might be in your favour.
Well sorry I can only give you limited information but it's worth looking into if you'd like to legally work here on a temporary basis. You'd be very welcome. All the best!
they are crying out for drivers like you

expect £10 - £13 per hr for articulated work
go to the british embassy and ask there they will tell you what you need to know and how to go about it good luck
You will only be able to get a work permit if you can fill a vacancy that a UK employer cannot fill locally. With the work skills you have to offer I'm afraid you are unlikely to fit this category. The UK is full of Qualified nurses aids and truck drivers as well as the European Union being a recruitment source for companies in these fields since their citizens can work in the UK without permits.
