I got MARRIED in Dec 05, my wife is on 2YRS INDEFINATE stay in the UK. After the 2 years?
What does she need to do to achieve definate stay? / What does she need? e.g. Bank acc, license, qualifications etc.
A colleague of mine advised that she may need to do a course, ESOL Citizenship? I heard that she may need to sit a british general history exam?
Shes from Pakistan and currently living with me and doing an art A-Level, not english, as her english is coherent.
Please advise.
Many thanks

Well that is stupid!
Indefinite means indefinite, not 2 years!
Can she not go back and apply for another 2 years?
Britian needs immigrants now to help with the birth rate and workers too. Please ignor the insulting and foolish answers. Should find your answer at the citizen advice beureau or CAB.
Best of luck
I think you are confused about your words. If she has Indefinite Leave to Remain, that means she is allowed to stay here as long as she likes. I am guessing that she came here on a spouse visa, to get married to you; after two years of marriage, she can apply for indefinite. The ESOL test, and one about life in the UK, are needed from next month for people to get Indefinite - the rules are just changing about this, I'm not sure how this applies to husbands/wives.
It is very important that all procedures are carried out correctly. I advise you to discuss with a solicitor or citizens advice bureau.
Oh, and ignore all the racist answers here!
Good luck.
The cheek of these people is unbelievable. We are trying to keep them out as our islands are undergoing a Muslim invasion, an invasion that neither Hitler or Napoleon could achieve, yet this lot are invading us and asking us how to !!!!!
If they are both educated, why do they not stay in their own country and help to civilise it. I think its too late now, I could cry for those men women and children who gave their lives to save this land, as we stood ALONE against the evil might of Hitler. They died to keep our freedom, but look at it now. They can call us what they wish, but we cannot retaliate, as that is racism. We have to stand back and watch as they flood into our islands, smirking at us in the process. Can't go
on, I'm going to have a good weep.
After 2 years she will have to apply to extend her stay. She cannot apply for permanent leave until she has been here 5 yrs.
Your questions relating to ESOL and the Nationality Test relate to citizenship, not her leave status. She can't apply for this until she has permanent leave.
