Why is the AFL-CIO and the Teamsters in favor of illegal alien amnesty?

The Unions would want it so that the pay rates would go up the workers would have to make at least minimum wage.
The same reason the Dems are in favor of amnesty. Pandering to latinos.
They want their dues and that is all they want. I was a member of that union, they did absolutely nothing but line their pockets with my money. I was so glad when went into management so I would not have to give them anymore money
Many of them are Mexicans and they vote at their meetings for stuff like this. It also means more union members!
Because they are as corrupt and criminal as the politicians pushing the Bush / Kennedy / McCain Leave No Illegal Alien Behind Act.
The unions want it because they are out for themselves first. Anyone who thinks unions are for the American worker anymore is smoking crack. Union membership have been in a decline for years due to their socialist agenda and they see illegals as a souce of new members just like the Catholic Church.
They are being undercut in wages and benefits by the illegal immigrants and they figure if they are legal they can unionize them and raise pay and benefits as they were before. This WON'T work with a neverending flow of cheap labor under the guest worker program, so last I heard they were against the Senate Bill. Have you heard anything since Wednesday?
OTHER unions are out to grow global, particularly in poor countries where workers are uneducated and more malleable. As long as they are the ones perching on top of the heap, the bigger the heap is the more their power grows. However, while it is better for the workers from poor countries (think China, not Mexico) it is much worse for the workers from countries with protective labor laws whose wages and benefits sink until they level with the poor countries.
Unions have been on the down hill slide for years, they are just looking for more dues
