TIME magazine says illegal immigrants are good for America?

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/...

It mentions a few times that the illegal immigrant population is not only good for, but integral to our economy. Wouldn't granting amnesty be making full use of these people who are already in the US living and working by allowing them access to better jobs and therefore healthcare and taxes?

Answer:
Thank you for the link, I hadn't seen that.

However, I have heard those arguments, and have concluded they are very misleading. Look at their own language 'amnesty "doesn't necessarily have to" lead to more illegal immigration' assuming we fix Mexico's economy. Yeah, right. And they do NOT say illegal immigrants are good for America, they say that since 'they are already here and unlikely to leave' they recommend a different way of dealing with those here than deporting them.

Legalization of those who broke our laws and took services they weren't entitled to can't be the primary thrust of a bill in America. Addressing the impacts of illegal immigration on OUR people OUR schools and OUR services has to be the primary thrust, for me to support it. The Senate Bill was carefully designed with a caveat or exception for every enforcement provision it had, and cut in half the fence overwhelmingly voted for before the last election. The Senate Bill would need to be completely rewritten because the 'boilerplate' between what is mentioned (often incorrectly) in the press, is unacceptable.

I disagree with them, strongly.
Time magazine voted Adolph Hitler man of the year too, so your point would be?
The are a part of the corporate greed that wants amnesty to add it it's bottom line. They call those that are caught " Would be Immigrates " instead of what they are law breakers. It spoke to the issues, but with such a slant that is was gift to the illegals. I loved the part that said the young women was not going back to Mexico, if one of your children says I am not going to do what you ask, what are the chances you say okay if that's what you want. The defiance is why we have so many illegals
now they would not have an agenda would they
Yup...it's amazing how articles like this overlook simple little things like FACTS!!!!
Yeah, If they were so great why is it that MEXICO gives pamphlets out on HOW TO BREAK THE AMERICAN LAWS? Why does MEXICO want to get rid of them!

Bunch of BS and I have lost all respect for TIME AND CNN because of their bias lies!
Time's assessment is superficial and this article reads more like an Op Ed piece than serious investigative journalism.

To say we "infantalize" illegals and that's why they are forced onto our social rolls is just plain irresponsible reporting.
Are you advocating giving amnesty to those who have chosen to break our laws? "Access to better jobs"? How about those who are here legally having the access instead. "Allowing them healthcare"?? Guess who has to pay for that?? YOU & ME.
Time magazine isn't the authority on illegal immigration.

No amnesty - go home and come in the way every legal immigrant does.
And then I guess we will need 20 million more illegal immigrants to do the jobs that these new American citizens wont do, right? This will never end unless we as a notion say no to big corporations and big government.
That's because they are a source for cheap labor, what happens when they become legal?
The first answer you received is typical of what I would expect on a question like this. At least a couple of people seemed to have actually read the article before answering.
Good for America,as hemorrhoids and polyps are good for your colon.
You know, amnesty didn't work in the 80's. I think it gives more illegals an incentive to come here illegally with the hopes of becoming legalized in a few years. Also, do you think that they would still want to do the jobs many claim that Americans don't want if they become legal residents? They will want higher paying jobs once they become legal. Many legal residents are employed in what you would call "better jobs" but they still don't have affordable healthcare. So all amnesty will do is exacerbate the problems we already have and encourage more illegal entry.
Most media is pro illegal. Anything that makes them more money is ok.
The truth is that a balanced immigration system is means for sustaining the overall health and the viability of our Nation and our Economic System. However, illegal immigration does not.
Time Magazine is not about truth in reporting but about forwarding a political agenda of the managing editors and their advertisers.
It is advisable to get your news from multiple sources and balance the information with public records.
By the way the article is an opion piece. The issue of what would happen if there was a downturn in the economy and jobs were not readily available. If there was a serious down turn in the economy, such as the late 70 and early 80's, we would be risking rioting in the streets like we had in the 60's.
TIME is a Liberal Socialist Bias` bible . Time says` it is OK because TIME isn`t going to have to pay a dime supporting this BS ! If you want to solve the ILLEGAL problem , STOP all the freebies`. There is no other incentive for ILLEGALS to SNEAK into the USA other than they can dupe the system with phoney ID`s and they have no intentions of becoming "tax paying , military serving citizens" , they come for the giv-a-ways and that is all they come for ! Are you willing to pay for someone and their family to have the same rights as you have , when they are here ILLEGALLY , and have paid Nothing into the system in the form of taxes ? Remember that "Giant Sucking Sound" Ross Perot mentioned in his Presidential campaign in `92 , well this is it .Why should the ILLEGALS buy the milk , when they can get the cow for free ? Why can`t the ones` that are here already stay ? Because my family and I are not going to support all the welfare programs that it will take to raise them and their families , and will have to be written in spanish for them to understand . If the ILLEGALS` want to wave the mexican flag , let `em do it mexico . If ILLEGALS are so valuable to the U.S. economy , then why have fruit & vegetable prices skyrocketed ?? WHERE`S THE FENCE... STOP THIS MADNESS !!
This article is proof positive that paper will hold still and it will allow you to write anything on it. Paper doesn't care whether you write down the truth or a lie.

Time magazine is owned by who? Oh that's right...Big business. And who is it that wants illegals here? Big Business.

This article is a load of crap. Look at the claims that it makes

"That's amnesty. And that's a good thing for America."
Oh really? and just how is it a good thing? Facts please.

"The estimated 12 million illegals are by their sheer numbers undeportable."
Can I have some ketchup with those lies?

"Yet the word amnesty was still used as a cudgel at the GOP debate — McCain's rivals clobbered him with the term, and he turned it on them as well, saying that doing nothing is "silent and de facto amnesty." "

OK now we are getting to some truth but you have to read between the lines. What is McCain really saying? He is saying that if you don't give him amnesty he will do nothing. He will not enforce the laws that are already on the books. The problem here is he is only promising enforcement in exchange for the amnesty. We were promised a fence too or did they forget already?

" Now politicians are being roasted for conceding a reality: illegal or not, most of those 12 million are here to stay. "

Yet another unsubstantiated claim. Obviously this article is pure propaganda. It repeats over and over again the pro illegal mantras in hopes that the American people become so ingrained with those catch phrases that they will start to believe them. To an extent it is working. I have spoken with several people who have blurted out "it would be impossible to deport them" When asked why? They never have a good answer. Fortunately, once you explain the concept of attrition through enforcement, they change their mind.

Have you ever read about attrition through enforcement in Time Magazine? Didn't think so.
We already know what amnesty will bring. If we want to see what America will look like if we allow this to continue, we need just look at L.A., California and Miami, FL. How's that working out?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but take it with a grain of salt. The article slants left as evidenced by use of the term "undocumented workers," referring to American citizens as "whites" (thus demonstrating racism) and making anti-illegal immigrant folks look like redneck hicks.

The article says that deportation is impossible because of the sheer numbers. That's a lie and we all know it. Just like, "Americans won't do the jobs illegals do."

But deportation isn't the answer. They need to leave themselves. Fine the heck out of anyone hiring/housing illegals and follow the 14th amendment as originally written. If we have any slaves who have have been brought to America against their will from Africa, their children should be allowed to be citizens. This amendment was not intended to be abused by illegals wanting to take advantage of our social programs.

As for the labor shortage, why don't we let in more immigrants - from Mexico and other places - LEGALLY. Just choose those immigrants who want to be Americans, who speak the language, who have the skills we needs AND who will support themselves and their families.

Period. That's all it would take. Many would leave on their own. Give it 90 days, then deport the rest. Amnesty will cost U.S. Taxpayers a MINIMUM of 2.6 TRILLION - http://www.heritage.org/research/immigra...
You forgot to add the Washington Post. They are both Communist and delusional!
TIME is a magazine so they re looking for business, since many people support the amnesty, they only write about what the people want to read, so if the case is that most of the people are against the amnesty the case would be different the title of the magazine would read " Send them Back: their spoiling our country". But I don't think so that really that persons means really something great to our economy, only if the USA stop them to send all their money to Mex, that the only way if they become citizen had to be conditional to the work, not for depend in our government, if they can demonstrate that they have a "situation" like get suddenly fired because the company close or they suffer an accident, or they can really work perhaps they can apply for welfare. But I think so that if the government give them all the benefit that they usually give the people over here, we need to look for worker for the Farm and the construction in other place, because there no guarantee that they don't going to assume the same lazy aptitude of the regular American citenship They do right now because they dint have options. but is the situation change, Do you think so?
