Nowadays I think of illegal immigrants because I have been so focused on the bill, and those pro illegal immigration have hijacked that word to mean illegal immigrants. I had always thought it meant legal immigrants before, and thought of my forefathers and newcomers (legal).
I guess everyone thinks of Mexicans because it's what's being talked about the most nowadays. I try not to be that way though.

I think of those from Europe most of the time. However, here lately I think of Mexicans because the vast majority of illegals are Mexican (latest debate).
You are correct, but sadly people just love to generalize because the majority of immigrants are from Mexico.
Like I've said before, America is made up of people from all types of ethnicities ... I don't get what the "American" type is . do you think it's the rednecks?
When I think of an illegal immigrant, I think of someone who is living in this country without a green card, visa, or papers telling they have become an American citizen. It doesn't matter where you came from, if you want to live here, do it legally. There are ways to stay in the United States without becoming a citizen. Just do it legally.
Truthfully, I picture loud, dirty, thieving people that are ignorant.
i mostly think about the chinese and european immigrants, but lately it's the mexicans cuz that's what i hear on the news most of the time. i mean, it's a HUGe issue. not to mention that there are millions and millions of mexicans illegally crossing the border compared to asians and the europeans. for illegal immigrants, they may come to the US without papers, or may just forge one or even steal one. This is the whole problem here. although millions of illegal immigrants may tresspass the border, how does that happen? isnt there a wall to prevent it? but no. it barely even helps. i wonder if all the money paid to build the wall went to waste. not that i'm racist or anything cuz i'm not, i mean one of my best friends is mexican, but i just dont beleive illegals should stay. not only do they stay, but they demand for benefits that they dont deserve. 'cuz of them, higher crime rates. these illegal immigrants are like parasites. they're sucking off the benefits of legal immigrants. and more and more people's ID are getting stolen to be sold to these illegal immigrants esepecially social security numbers. please dont think badly of me, this is just my opinion and of what i think of when i think of an immigrant. not that all immigrants are bad of anything. it's just what's happening right now. and some sort of action should take place now! i dont know what president bush is thinking.
It's much much harder for people overseas to be here illegally. Mexicans sneak across the border. People from China and Germany can't sneak across the water.
I think of somebody who is fleeing a country for reasons that make it imperative to leave home, family, culture, heritage, familiar surroundings. and go move to another country
think of somebody who wants something better, better opportunities, more freedo, and is willing to give up their former life to get it.
I think of somebody with courage and strength who wants to adapt to and adopt a new culture, to learn a new language... somebody who wants to assimiloate into the new society and way of life.
I think of the millions of immigrants who built this country and helped it to prosper. I think of those and their progeny along side of whom I've fought in the defense of our country (theirs and mine, and yours too, if you're a citizen) and its ideals.
But I do not think those are the concepts against which every thinking individual in the United States takes issue. The individuals with which we have a problem are not immigrants. They are illegal aliens.
We have legal aliens in this country. They are on student visas, or work visas, or just visitors. These, because they are legal, contribute to the society, and eventually the world. I don't believe thinking Americans have a problem with those either. They are visitors and should be accorded the same courtesy one would afford a visitor in their home.
But there seems to be a growing number of aliens who outlaw themselves knowingly, to invade this country just to get what they can without having to work for it. They have no interest in tihs country other than what they can steal from it. These should be afforded the same "courtesy" afforded to somebody who steals into your house at night. They are criminals by intent. It's not by accident that they sneak into our country. It's not by accident that they refuse to make right their illegal entry by immediately starting the naturalization process. It is not by accident that they forge papers and steal benefits for which we have worked so hard. It's not by accident... i's by intent. They are criminals by intent. And some people think their criminal activities should be ignored,, commended, even rewarded.
Ignoring a crime you know is being committed and one which you have the capacity to stop, makes you an accessory after the fact. Commending criminal activity flies in the face of reason. And rewarding criminal activity...
