Question about redundancy?

A friend of mine was made redundant from our firm about 5 years ago. Its an OK firm to work for - can she reapply to work here again??

Answer:
Hi there.
Redundancy applies to a job being got rid of, not a person - your friend was just filling the unlucky job. If there is a vacant job, she is completely free to apply for it.
I know a guy who was made redundant by a company one week and hired for a new job in the same place the following month!
Good luck to you both, Steve.
Didn't you just ask that question?
It depends on the firm's policy and whether they are actually hiring. Some firms set a "closed period" during which former employees cannot apply and a few firms do not rehire former employees at all
Yes she can reapply to work there again.
When she was "made redundant" she might have agreed to some kind of severance or separation deal. The terms of such deals sometimes contain a clause that by accepting the severance, the employee agrees that they may not be rehired directly by the company for some period of time. She should check on whatever agreement she might have signed at the time.
