Why is Canada making it "easier" to get passports.?

In its infinite wisdom the Canadian government is making it easier to get a passport because it cannot meet the back log...with all the hits and popularity using the Canadian passport, crimminal, terrorists etc, why would they make it easier. One new rule will allow any passport holding individual to guarantor another...go figure and renewals do not need to prove citizenship...ok.."come one come all...get your Canadian passport here...complements of the Harper government...you are Canadian..ok here you go...no, hold on to the ID we don't need that. so why do you wear a robe, billy, oh ok I should not have asked and why do you need a passport...oh to fly to the US..oh ok...next please" Nice scenario.

JUST AS AMERICAN HAD A WIDE "OPEN DOOR" IMMIGRATION POLICY IN THE 1800's, AND , EARLY 1900's ( PLEASE, REFERENCE THE INSCRIPTION ON THE 'STATUE OF LIBERTY') IN ORDER TO POPULATE 'THE EXPANSES' OF OUR GREAT NATION,'MODERN' CANADA ,IT SEEMS,NOW, IS TRYING TO DO THE SAME THING IN "TODAYS' WORLD"-- AMERICA SEEMS TO HAVE SWUNG THE OPENING ITS' DOOR, IMMIGRATION-WISE, TO A VIRTUALLY SMALL CRACK, RELATIVELY SPEAKING , COMPARED TO THE 1800's, and EARLY 1900's,PLACING HEAVY RESTRICTIONS, AND QUOTAS, UPON WHO MAY,HOW MANY MAY, LEGALLY IMMIGRATE TO OUR GREAT NATION!---SO, IN 'TODAYS WORLD', IMMIGRATION-WISE, CANADA SURE SEEMS TO BE THE "NEW AMERICA"-WITH A "WIDE OPEN IMMIGRATION POLICY",FOR THOSE NEW IMMIGRANTS WHICH IN YEARS PAST,THAT "LADY LIBERTY" FORMERLY,MORE FREELY WELCOMED !
Terror can be easily bred within one's own country as outside. In the US we had people such as Timothy McVeigh. There is only so much one can do. Terror is something we created and we will have to deal with.
Because Canada doesn't have over 20,000,000 criminal illegal aliens in their country.

The changes are current holders do not have to prove AGAIN they are citizens of Canada. Since they already done this during their initial application (and subsequent if renewed) I don't see it as a big deal.

The other change is the "guarantor" for first time applicants.
Canada is not making it easier for criminals and terrorists to get passports. They are making it easier for people who already have passports to renew their passports by having someone who already has a passport and knows the person applying to back them on the application. My husband's Aunt applied for her passport to go on a cruise in Jan. and she still has to wait for three months for her application to go through. And by the way lets not forget that it is the American Government that has caused the problem by saying that anyone who enters the US or flies from the US to other destinations has to have a passport. I am not against having a passport to enter the US after all we are entering someone elses country. If we went to Europe we would have to have one.
They are ay making it easier to renew passports and relaxing the rules on who can be a guarentor (sp?)..

not as sinister as it sounds eh?
