Obviously, imprisoning them isn't the anwer, due to the enormous expense, lack of cell space, and the matter of what happens when they've served their terms and get out.
And systematically DEPORTING them would overwhelm our system's capacity to do so. And many of them would manage to get back in.
Here's my SOLUTION:
1. Pass a federal law that would make it a FELONY to **employ** any person NOT documentable as a LEGAL resident or visitor entitled to work -- either as employees or subcontractors. A law with real TEETH. *Mandatory* jail time of at least 6 months, and a steep fine. This would leave ALL illegal aliens with NO income in America. During the time between now and when the law goes into effect...

Your plan sounds great! You should be a Senator and then maybe something would get done! I would also add in a fence with razor wire. Kick all the drug dealers, gang members, and prisoners back across the fence. The Government would take possession of everything they have and sell it on an auction and put the money back into the General Fund. Build the fence and then give all illegals 30 days to leave. Then start in systematically looking in packing plants, roofing companies, hotels, restaurants and janitorial companies.
Number 1 alone would do it, but 2 is good too.

Your question was great. I think just like you - I am sick and tired of having the illegals here and sick of our government doing absolutely nothing about it. Heck, even arrests and deportations have declined since the Senate didn't pass the immigration and amnesty reform package. So what is the chimp doing - NOTHING! Impeach him and Cheney and maybe there would be some changes that America must make - or we won't have an America to call home!

I like your plan, but i would also include secure borders to keep them honest. Deporting is expensive and the border fence would pay for itself over time.
For a major corporation which is run by a CEO and board of directors who may or may not have direct involvement in the daily operations, including hiring and firing of employees, who are you going to charge with the felony?
Some lowly HR person making $15/hr and may have made a mistake (eg: accepted a fake SS card)? Or the CEO?
But most of these illegal aliens have SS cards. But, are these cards valid or scams?. Should the employer have to pay big bucks for a thorough background check including interviewing former employers listed in SS records?.

Let's start by going trough the House and Senate. Identify any Congressperson that employees an illegal to clean their house or cut their grass. They all can't be jailed so whip them on the White House steps (like China caned a kid for graffiti). Or install stockades like the 1700's and have them locked in it for a couple days.

First and foremost,close the border! Don't piss in the wind and tell me it can't be done because it sure as hell can. Next thing to do is deport them as they are found! Again ,there is no reason not to do this and it should be done now! As for going after employers it would be hard to do because of the numbers alone! There are millions of employers in California alone and checking them all would be impossible! However if employers are found to be in violation of the law then they by all means should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

yet you do not see anything done about it. if this was a major issue I'm sure something can be done. meaning a full car search. body search. background check every time you cross the border. higher pay for immigration police to protect the border, etc, etc.

1. America is built by immigrants. The illegal immigrants who have to come to US and work hard and earn their living are real class people than those people who enjoy their life doing nothing. Note that if a employer hires a person it only because he can earn 4 to 6 times the amount he pays to the employee. Illegal immigrants are very hard working people and they earn for what they are worth. Secondly, they don't sue left and right.
2. We want our country to be a leader. we don't want our country down. If all the illegals are thrown out or jailed. The price of a burgar, snacks, etc.. would rise way up. thats just eatables think about industry. Think where the cost of stuff will be. Think about the cost of living. Can you afford to pay a big bucks for small work. Will our country survive with no hard working people.
3. The thing is that secure our borders. Give every person in this country some form of ID and if anybody does not have the ID they should be immediately deported and come back legally. Everything should be as it is.
Because we are drinking the blood and sweat of illegal immigrants to build america and if they are legal we are no where.

US should implement a law against the illegal allien and their sponsors. They have modern ways of tracking alliens so why it took so long for them to deport those illegal aliens. Why not give a chance for people (especially old ones)to visit their children. They suffers too. Especially those who really miss their children. I think old people will not play hide and seek just to have a what everybody says a good life there. Not all people want to stay there. Some just go there for a visit once in a while. US is good for young and energetic people not for the older ones. I hope my letter could be an eye opener to the people of America especially the one who works in the embassy. Let me guess, you grew up in a big city, and you have on office with a window. On the hot days you look outside and see the brown people taking care of the landscaping and all you can think about is how hard they are working and how if you had some lemon aid you would offer them some. Then you think to yourself, no white man would be out there in the hot hot sun working that hard. Well, my retarded friend, nothing could be farther from the truth. I and many many other white boys have been working hard my entire life. My family moved west in the mid 1800's and we have been working this land sense then. Not all white people sit in an office pushing a pen all day. Maybe you should come out of your little make believe world and tell me why we've made the same amount of profit for the last 25 years. I agree with most of the answers but I take issue with the lie that they do what Americans won't do.Even the college students have problems finding jobs for the summer because most jobs are taken by illegals.
Right now, there is no cheap way to take care of the problem, and our government is running out of proud Americans willing to fight for their country or vote. When I first remember voting, "none of these candidates", wasn't an option. Worse yet, your t.v. posts the voting percentages. It's bad when the majority vote [50%+], doesn't want that candidate, and we don't get more choices. We get stuck with the top loser. If we legalize the immigrants, then the system has a chance of keeping the crap choices they give us, instead of altering the voting procedures to appease the masses.
