Am I umderstanding this right, that since my husband and I have applied for our passports and are still waiting like everyone else and possibilly not getting it by August, that the regulations have been lifted untill Sep 30th, and that all we need to show is drivers id and proof that we have indeed applied for them? Any help would be appreicated...BUT RIVERIA MAYA here we come...

Yes the deadline has been changed. Just imagine they can't get the passport's straightened out & they were supposed to process 12-20 million illegals within 24 hrs. Makes sense to me. Have a great trip.
Driver's license, birth certificate (what you used to need) and a receipt showing you have applied for the passport. Yeah, and I spent a bundle on expedited processing, too...
