Am I offending Hispanics with my question?
Most of the questions that I ask are based on the answers in which I get on this website.
I wish that more Hispanics would see why people in this country get so upset with them when it comes to some of the stuff they say and do.
Nobody's afraid of change as many say. It has nothing to do with skin color as others say (which is hysterical when you consider that many Hispanics are White!). It's all about the approach and I think that many Hispanics are approaching things the wrong way; therfore, the backlash against them.
As far as I can recall, Hispanics have been in this country for a while (I actually grew up in a town with Hispanics from all over the world), so why the sudden need to feel heard from?
Is it because you guys are now offically the largest minority in the US?
It sure sounds like it because I don't recall Hispanics demanding this and that until then.
I guarentee that if you guys backed off, others would 2

Of course I haven't read all of your questions, but the ones I have seen, and answered, usually make me think a bit. They are different than some of the nasty mud-flinging ones I see on here (in both directions).
The thing that infuriates me most (give me a second to vent, if I may) is that I see the legal and law and economic issues - not race, ethnicity, or nationality. There are some people who right away want to make everything about race & culture. I asked a question the other day about the Constitution, did not even say the word immigrant - and I was immediately called a racist by someone.
I really hate, too that some people right away assume all Americans are rich & white... we are comprised of so many different colors and cultures, but that seems to not count.
Ok, sorry. I'm done. Just keep asking your questions, some of them are very enlightening. I enjoy them.
hey gringo.
Keep asking your questions, I like them!! It is nice to get different prospectives on issues. :)
WELL I DONT KNOW WHY DONT THEY LIKE HISPANICS IF THEY DO ALL THE HARD WORK THAT AMERICAN WOUNT DO PLUS THIS COUNTRY WAS FROM THE MEXICAN FIRST.
To me, your questions are great & need to be addressed. Unfortunately they won't be address within this forum, due to the fact that the truth hurts & pro-illegals don't want to hear the truth. Here is the trueth... http://www.immigrationcounters.com...
So, keep on asking your questions, because I sure will!!!
No amnesty!!! Deport all illegal aliens!!!
No,not really.I would like for you to explain your theory about the "Spanish language supremacy" because that did ruffle my feathers a bit. Keep in mind,I'm a black Latina.I was born in this country and I don't DEMAND anything unless I've paid for it or earned it.
No offense taken.I guess I have failed in making you see my point of view...Thats ok, we can agree to disagree.
I am disturbed however, by a statement you just made...
I quote "so why the sudden need to feel heard from?" And I ask why not? You want Hispanics/Latinos to just shut up and go away? Did we require this of African Americans? NO, we have supported your plight for equal rights...I am no longer talking about illegals, I am talking about Latinos/Hispanics in general...
Sometimes people need to make a fuss to get their point across.Remember the pejorative, Uncle Tom? Well we don't want to be a Tio Taco, same pejorative for Mexicans. You of all people should understand this..Why does it bother you, that someone would speak up for what they believe in, whether you find it wrong, all people have a right to speak up, even illegals, they may not have rights, citizens do, but they do have human rights and we are all entiled to human rights in this country...
I don't recall hispanics demanding to be heard until the right wing started scapegoating them to gain political points with their filthy racist followers.
Perhaps if righty had decided to scapegoat African Americans for all of the perils of our times then maybe you might respond to being scapegoated as well.
This is typical right wing tactics. We should be above them
This topic is offensive
I was in Corpus Christi, Texas a couple of months ago. The other day, I went to Lowes nearby and there was more Spanish in that store on the products and signs than I saw the whole 6 weeks in Corpus Christi!
Does Lowes think that only ENGLISH and SPANISH are spoken here in s.e. Va? Why not have signs (and directions on food packages) in EVERY language spoken in the U.S.?
Ever notice that GRINGO is ok to call ANGLOS, but don't DARE let an ANGLO call anyone a S.P,I,C, GREASER, WET BACK, SEÑOR TACO, or BEANER. That person will be crucified!
Gonna REALLY tick some folks off now: YOU'RE IN AMERICA, SPEAK ENGLISH.
My grandparents/parents/uncles/au... learned English when they came here (LEGALLY by the way)...no FINN signs/directions on packages seen!
I think that what you stated is part of the whole issue. Not all hispanics are the same, they come from all over the world. However, a lot of hispanics are treated like they are undocumented workers. You are to be commended to admit that some hispanics are white, they are Caucasians. However not everyone respects that or even knows it. Also, maybe they are getting fanatic about legislation that would break up families, ie grandama lives here but has no documentation> Where should she get deported to after working here for thirty years Why should people not speak up, if they get pulled over because they are hispanic and not because they were speeding. it happens. Work for equality. Discrimination does not change if people back off. Those that hire illegals are breaking the law, but how do they get treated? Ever hear of employers getting fined or going to jail? What if an employer won't pay the minimum wage? Would you prefer not to work? We need to take care of this country, with justice.
Tylergrl: This is what the declaimer reads about your site. Very good source. jajajajaja.

I do not feel offended. I feel attacked, but not offended. The reason Hispanics are being noticed now more is because of illegal immigration. In spite of some people believing the opposite, it is the MINORITY of Hispanics who are illegally inside the country. All the others are either citizens or legal immigrants. I do find generalizations quite disturbing, but it's nothing that I can't overcome with my knowledge of History. Large waves of immigrants are always attacked (and even more when they are from a different culture!). When the Irish and Italians were flowing into the country, they were accused of being drunkards, mobsters, gangsters, thieves, etc., and Hispanics were completely unheard of. Back then all of the American continent was in a stable condition. But now that less European immigrants come, and more Hispanics do, they are beginning to be noticed more. History repeats itself, and I was disfortunate to be born in a generation where it is my cultural group that is being attacked. I just calm down and enjoy the show. If people from other ethnicities draw lines with me, I try to erase them with my actions and attitude.
Because in a democracy such as ours, any group has the right to be heard off at any point in time. It is not exclusive of any group, it belongs to everybody. The African Americans in the U.S. during the 1960's rightly took to the streets to demonstrate to the majority of the population of the United States that there were inequities that had not been solved in this country, even though the 14th and 15th ammendment of the U. S. constitution protected the rights of everybody regardless of race. Hispanics, such as myself are demanding the same rights as the rest of the U.S. population. So I find your question rather naive. Hispanics are doing what African Americans did in the 60's, demanding equality and in America, that is not against the law. Thanks for the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that showed us the way to demand our rights, white, hispanic, african american, native american, etc., etc., etc.
im Argentinian
it seems to be the only Anglos that dont like illegals are the rednecks those who don't have a college degree.
also some illegals are demanding there rights in a very bad way, they should wave American flags not Mexican flags to show that they really want to be in this country
The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
yo quer taco bell
this is racist any way you slice it.
I guarantee that if we backed off, things would get much worse. White hispanics are mostly the top percentage and hate the poor hispanics especially the dark skinned people.
One example is the white anti castro's that think democracy is synonymous with capitalism.
For me it isn't about race - it is about people that willingly and knowingly break the law. Face it - if a person is willing to break a federal law, to think that they aren't more willing to break other laws would be FOOLISH. Just look at all the identity theft going on by illegals...
Illegals are not limited to just people of hispanic background.
That there is a known problem with a lack of enforcement - a given considering that those that blew up the twin towers were here on expired visas - evidently with no background checks whatsoever.
Sorry, but I just don't want this country to turn into a war zone because of any group of people that think that they can make demands within my country to suit their illegal self's wants. They need to go back to their own country and make the needed changes there - not bring their problems here.
For those that want to come here legally - abide by the laws - welcome. But to those that feel that they don't have to obey such laws, that they can use the buffet approach (pick and choose) to obeying the laws of this country - get out. Don't need that type here. We have enough problems already with citizens that have such a mindset and do not need to import any more. We here in this country want to address our own problems - not illegally import your countries problems within our borders.
Unlawful Entry is a CRIME. America love it or leave it. Unlawful Entry is a CRIME. Leave it Now. Zero tolerance for immigration-law violators! No amnesty, no "stealth-amnesty." No "change of status," marriage fraud, "exceptional leave to remain," no "Temporary Protected Status." If you break the law, depart or be deported. Illegal aliens kill more US citizens each year than the war in Iraq has killed in four years. Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children. Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees. Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland. Taxpayers are being forced to pay for the free health care, education, and other welfare programs being given to illegal aliens; Those tax dollars could be given back to U.S. taxpayers or used to keep our borders secure; They may be here illegally, but they sure know how to "work the system" to collect "free" medical care, "free" education, "free" food, Section 8 housing vouchers and other housing assistance, and hundreds of other social services. It costs citizens additional hundreds of billions of tax dollars at every level: local, state, and federal. It gobbles up billions of our charitable contributions. And much of that money ends up siphoned out of our economy and into offshore accounts. Illegal aliens, over half of whom work "under the table" with neither job nor income reported (nor taxed), are not counted as employed or unemployed. But some of those day-labor and off-the-books "job-lets" would be "real" jobs - available to American citizen job-seekers - if employment regulations were enforced. Illegal aliens can get away with tax evasion, et al., which citizens cannot. In short, we have too many workforce entrants and too few jobs created. The ratio works out to roughly 7-10 workforce entrants per job created. If all illegal aliens depart or are deported, all legal immigration halted, and all temporary employment visas abolished, we still have a problem with more US-born workforce entrants than new jobs created. Illegal immigration damages our country and our citizens every day at every level. And not even the attacks of 2/26 and 9/11 have awakened many Americans to the vast dangers illegal immigration poses to our selves, our families, our communities, our society, our values, our principles, our civilization. Zero Tolerance for Immigration-Law Violators! We must remember the lessons of 2/26, 9/11, and the costs we bear every single day. God Bless the U S A !
Who cares if you offend them with your question, they offend me by being in my country.
