Did Ireland invade Scotland and how long ago? Did they stay to populate?

Answer:
Nobody has invaded Scotland. The Scotti, did come over from Northern Ireland though (though some other evidence says they emigrated to Northern Ireland from mainland Scotland & then emigrated back to Scotland again). They set up their Kingdom of Dalriada in Argyll. Theyt intermarried with the Britons & later The Picts. The Kingdom of Scots dates from the 10th Century!
No, the Irish are a peace-loving group and never invaded another country.
"Peace-loving"? Umm... not so much. It's not really that they were too peaceful to invade, more that the chieftans of each of the regions (Munster, Ulster, Connacht, Leinster [and in way, way back times, Meath]) were too busy fighting each other.

But to answer the original question, no, there was never a mass organized invasion of Scotland by the Irish, although it's certainly possible that some leader attempted it at some point. The thing to remember is that there wasn't really an "Ireland" the way we see it today.
