We could find out who is here illegally simply by requiring solid ID for health care, education, food stamps, employment, the police and courts and holding those hiring illegals responsible with hefty fines.
To say we cannot round up 12 to 20 million is a red herring. They can be found when they reach out to burden our citizens by using a system for which they contribute nothing.

1. Build the fence
2. Enforce penalties on employers or in the case in Arizona, pull their business license.
This war could be won mostly by attrition...those who can not find work here or who discover their menial under the table jobs wont pay enough will just simply go home. The rest will be deported...
The fact is, congress wants to spend billions on this bill, yet it wont make the present situation go away...in fact it will only get worse as they will have given the green light for more to spill over our borders as the idiots will refuse to enforce the new bill they have created just like all the other bills they have passed. heh, they dont enforce present day laws...so why create another bill?
All they have to do is Build the fence, go after the people that hire the illegals and they will leave!

This is the President's pet project. Ted Kennedy wants to wreck the country too which should make every conservative cringe when they see the two of them agreeing. We do need to build the fence and we do need tighter economic security.
It will probably pass the Senate, so we have go focus on the house, if this gets to the president's desk , we are screwed.
Build the damn fence, and put armed patrol with orders to shoot illegal border crossers. Round up all the damn illegals and deport their sorry @sses. And start arresting the damn employers who hire the worthless illegals! The hell with the rest! If we did these 3 things, we wouldn't be here talking about this crap!
No fence will be built. The employers of this "cheap labor" have lobbyist that fund the election campaigns of both parties - so nothing will get done. We the taxpayers get stuck with the social costs of these illegal immigrants while the employers get off scot-free and avoid paying taxes to boot.
It's all about politics and getting elected. Nothing else matters to these politicians. Dems or Reps, its the same trash. The politicians will sell out their country for a dime (and to get in power).
My prayer is that we create strong border control, the fence and then one by one deport the illegals. If they are truly working in agriculture, work visas should be made available but we need to enforce out current laws with a passion and let other countries know, we won't be invaded against our will. I agree that they can be found and deported by many, many ways.

Problem is, that is a commonsense approach – something that would actually work and empower the American people. WE CAN’T HAVE THAT!
They have to build SOME fence but they are trying to hold it hostage for the rest to the point where they have succeeded in convincing America that even if they do pass a bill we aren't likely to get it.
