ive been in the US for 14 years now, i am a permanent resident, i want to be a citizen, how long do i have to wait after i apply to take the test.
Answer:
It depends on where you are located. For example, USCIS says on average it can take 18 months however, people I know have had different experiences. 2 had the average wait time of 18 months, another 4 had a 36 month wait and one recently completed the entire process in less than 1 year from application submission to swearing in.
It has been shown that if you are located in high immigrant dense areas such as FL and NY it tends to be longer vs. somewhere like the mid west.
usually less than a year from the time you submit the app to the ceremony and interview. congratulations!!
