What can you tell me that would change my mind about what I think about HOW you immigrated to this country?

It's funny how they can't answer. When it comes down to it they don't have any good reasons to back it up.
Supaypahuahua should care, especially if he has friends or family that are illegal. We already know he is racist (you can tell by his profile). But the real point, remember, he need to adapt to us, not the other way around.

Look into your family tree,I bet not all your relatives were born here.You are blindly believing that this is one of the biggest problems in this country right now.I think its much more important that every single occupation is being outsourced for cheaper labor.I am niether an illegal or an immigrant,but if the american public would work there would be no reason for them to cross the borders,they are merely filling the void.Why not give them a social sercurity number and tax them too ?

Under the bill proposed: these would be the steps to become a citizen for those in the country not in compliance with U.S. law.
1. Pay a 1,000 fine (not a requirement for current Green card holders)
2. Remain employed (a laxer requirement for current Green card holders).
3. Pay an additional fine of $4,000 to turn their Z visa into a Green card (not a requirement for current Green card holders).
4. Pass accelerated English and Civics classes to turn their Z visa into a Green card (not required for current Green card holders).
5. Leave the U.S. to file application (unfortunately this will be nearly impossible for mass of non-Mexican migrants, but anyway).
6. Go to the back of the Green card line and also get in based upon merit with those applying for legal status.
I don't support the immigration bill (for different reasons than you I suppose); however, it is simply incorrect to say that it is easier for them to gain citizenship than those who apply legally. Actually, if we accepted more green card applications from Latin American countries, then no one in their right mind would go through this process. Essentially, they pay $5,000, take classes, and must maintain employment in order to save a place at the back of the line.

First we need to get something straight again. My ancestors were not ILLEGAL they were LEGAL. When a majority of legal immigrants came over they did register and plus back then there were no immigration laws. I agree with the question and would like to know myself.

Im glad u asked this question in hope for some kind of reasonable answer instead of directly attacking these ppl. First, I am a US brn citizen who is in favor of granting amnesty to SOME of the illegal population, those who haven't been convicted of felonies & who can pass a background check. And also to those who have contributed to society by working, paying/filing income taxes. I say we need to weed out the good & bad before just deporting 20 million ppl, obviously some have done some good in our nation or they wouldn't b here.
Now i dont think its fair to deport illegals who have been in this country for most of their lives whether it b over 20 yrs or because they were brought as children & who r now grown adults. IF u recall a braceros program in the 1940's, these mexican immigrants were INVITED to the US because of lack of field help so they filled the quota obviously. The US gvmt. never ceased to handle or halt the immigration issue systematically ever since. No precautions were taken then and none r being taken now. Something has to b done NOW before the issue becomes even worse!
Our nation is being divided by cdowards and greed in politics. the commonwealth of the people legal or illegal is not being considered at all. I for one know that 20 million ppl didnt jump the fence one night 2 yrs ago, we have been living w/them for decades but now since some of light has been shined on the issue, the illegals r being targeted as hard criminals. sorry i dont see the justice in that either!
I am sympothetic to their cause. I can fully understand wanting to come to America for a better life, but it should be done legally. When our ancestors came to America long ago to have a better life, they had pride. They wanted to learn English and the way of life here so they could prosper in this great country we call America. Now a days, the immigrants don't have enough pride in America to become a legal citizen. Not all, but most. Our government is to blame for a lot of the immigration problem. Our government gives the immigrants free money(foodstamps), and medical benefits. I have seen this first hand. As I sat in the emergency depatment of Children's Hospital with one of my children, in walked a hispanic couple with their son. They were shown a seat after showing their government medical card until an interpretor could be found for them. Their child was also treated first. At that time my husband and I could not afford insurance thru our jobs and did not qualify for free medical. My question is, how do apply for government benefits if you can not speak or read English? How can you hold a job in a country if you don't speak the language. I would not expect to go to any other country and survive if I did not learn the language of that counrtry. When my dad was shipped overseas by the Army, they were forced to learn the language of the country they were shipped too. My dad can now speaks German and Korean. If they make our troops learn the language of the country they are sent to, why is no longer required for immigrant in America to learn English? On the other, the immigrants say they are doing the jobs that Americans won't do. That is so far from the truth. Those are the jobs Americans can't afford to do because they don't pay enough. For instance, construction jobs are done by bidding. Let's say you own a construction business with /skilled Ameicans that you Pay $15.00 an hour. The other guy pays immigrants $7.00 an hour and bids $2000 less on the job. He's going to win that job because he can afford to do for less and make a bigger profit off doing the job for less because he pays his workers so much less. We definetly need to crack down on the hiring of the illegals. The minimum wage needs to be higher that it going to be because my husband and I could not afford to live if our jobs only paid minimum wage and we surely to GOD could not afford our health insurance. The RITCHIE RITCHES of the USA need to give up some there billions to the people who keep their butts so high up there and pay the money for our SKILLED American workers. This needs to be enforced. The HMO's need to be regulated too. They get rich while we pay our premiums yet they decide who lives and dies because they won't cover the cost of a life saving surgery. If OUR government stopped giving free money and medical benefits to illegal immigrants, and enforced the law of not hiring the illegals, they would stop coming here. Every American needs to set this country straight in 2008!
