Should Permanent residents take the US high school GED test to further US education?
Should I do the credential evaluation or get into the american system by simply doing the high school GED test so I won't have to go through the trouble of having my international certificates recognized, waiting months for transcripts from home and all that drama. That way my GED would be recognized by any school I want to go too.
Answer:
I would totally recommend you take the GED and then apply for various colleges...believe it or not..i have cousins who are 36 and 34 yrs old who recently immigrated to the US with schooling of only upto 9th grade level....now they want to go to college so they are taking the GED....dont bother trying to get your studies in your home country recognized...waste of time and money...take a few night course (if you work during the day), sit and pass the GED exam...and you will be well on your to attending US colleges....good luck...
Naw save your money finish your schooling and go home there isnt anything here for you , i really dont think you should be able to take american GED as our schools are weak and it would be too easy for you
well I was 2 months away from graduation years ago, Wanted to make something out of myself, but no diploma, hard to get a satisfying job. I decided to take my GED, passed and with that, got me into state, and Civil service positions. Was well worth it. I also worked for an Ins. Co, had to be state approved, which I passed. The company then looked over my application, refused me to go selling, I challenged them with attorney stating no diploma needed for that type of work. They gave me 1 year to prove myself, Not bragging, but was highest in sales for year with top award. then I moved on
