My husband just got a work permit how he can get a social security card?

If you are not a U.S. citizen, Social Security must see your current U.S. immigration documents. Acceptable documents from the Department of Homeland Security include your:
- Form I-551 (includes machine-readable immigrant visa with your unexpired foreign passport);
- I-94 with your unexpired foreign passport; or
- Work permit card (I-766 or I-688B).
You can either mail in the form (SS-5) (along with the immigration documents, which will be returned, of course) or take them to the nearest Social Security Office
Birth certificate for one. If the applicant is 18 or older and has never had a Social Security number, he or she must apply to a Social Security office in person. Along with completing an application, documents need to be provided that state the applicant’s age, identity, and citizenship or lawful alien status.

This also depends on what type of Visa your husband has. If he is like my wife, he cannot be a K-3 (non-immigrant spouse of US citizen), he would have to wait until he is a CR-6(two year immigrant spouse of US citizen....if this is his situation.

or call the social security administraction office nearest you for verfication.... but as far as I remember you need a valid passport, visa, the work permit, birth certificate or proof of birth and nationality etc....
whenever I go there I bring everything really though.... more than they even tell me when I call....
The best people to ask is the office you are going to though when you call for an appointment....
