Can you enter the US with only a one-way ticket?
so my question is.if he chooses to fly, will he be allowed entry with only a one-way plane ticket?? (i'd like to reserve the return ticket with my frequent flyer miles...and right now there is nothing available.and we aren't sure on the return date just yet.)
or.what about him coming up to texas via the bus?? he'd have to clear the "border zone." could he get a permit? it seems like if you take the bus, they think you are poor, and that you won't return. it's a wedding...we can't be late! can we run the risk? what is your experience with passing the border via bus? success?
Answer:
If he enters with a one way ticket, he will be questioned quite extensively and may face an immediade return to Mexico. My wife had the same problem, so we purchased a round trip ticket that could be refundable. When it came time for her to return, we just got the refund for that return ticket. She is legal now, so it was all worth it.
I hope he is legal. You seem to be covering all your bases in the question above. Seems like you are feeling nervous and guilty about something.
I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO READ THIS AS USUALLY WHEN SOMONE WRITES ABOUT THINGS THAT SOUND LIKE "CAN I GET AWAY WITH." IT USUALLY IS JUST THAT.
NO...YOU MUST PURCHASE A ROUND-TRIP TICKET
I am in the process of immigrating permanently to the US and I found it cheaper to buy a return ticket than a one-way.
The only way to buy a one wait ticket its if you have a green card, work permit or student visa. Other wise you gotta pay round ticket.
