What DO you think about this?

My friend tried to cross the border illegally like 7 years ago at the time he did this , he declared himself to be an USA citizen (not true) and now that he got married to an USA citizen , her wife wants to obtain a green card for him, but the lawyers have told her that there is no way he could be forgiven for declaring himself an USA citizen because is a felony. Should he be forgiven? do you think is fair?
pls people that know about laws or something related give an advice. I would really apprecciate it.

Answer:
not true he can go to immigration with his wife and have an interview with them I'm sure he will pass
Hasta La Vista Jose - say bye bye to la familia
Yes it is fair and he should not have done it. Why is that ok?

Your attorney would know your options best because he has all of the facts. There are waivers in some cases, but for that one, I'm not sure.
1.) No.

2.) Yes.

I've lived all my life in the U.S.; work like a dog, pay state, local and federal taxes; pay into Social Security.

If I'd wanted to go to another country, I wouldn't lie about it, then compound the lie by marrying a naturalized citizen, then complain that "it's not fair." Tough. That's life. He made his bed.
The fact is, he broke the law... Sorry, but that's the way it is. I have known illegal aliens, including women who moved to the US while pregnant so their kids can be born citizens, and they are good people. In some ways it isn't fair, but legally it is. Therre may be a loophole somehwere... Good luck!
It is a felony and when he declared himself a USA citizen there was probably a small print saying "the penalities for a false statement can be up to X years in jail, a fine of $X or both.

I think it's fair because people who break rules like this are the sort that lead senate/government/parliment to make tougher rules and harder for the legal people who do the right thing.

The lawyers don't really want his case as if he admits to it he could be looking at doing both time and a fine as well as deportation. That's not really considered a win for them.

No offence but he made his bed.. now he must sleep in it.
he broke the law by coming here illegally. he will have to go back and apply. do you think it was fair my brother in law had to pay 15 thousand to be here? and illegals want amnesty? no it's not fair to my brother in law and to people like him who come here legally.
The only answer to this is illegal. An illegal liar and you want to help him get citizenship?
