I married a illegal immigrant, i put in the application whats going to happen?
Answer:
Dont listen to these racist remarks! If you are in love, you are much better off than these hatefull people who have answered here (no offense to those who posted REAL answers). And judging by these responses, I would encourage both of you to reconsider your decision for him to become a US citizen. This is what you face here in th good 'ol USA! Discrimination, rascism and segragation. MLK won a battle for the Blacks - but who gonna win it for the Mexicans? At least one of them got it right - go back to Mexico! I would choose the company of mexicans over any one else any day.
Gee, I cannot express how joyful the news of your marriage has made me.
Send him home anyways !
You probably will end up spending the rest of your days in Mexico. Being married to him of course. Good luck on your marriage by the way.
I am in a similar situation. Depending on what state you live in, you and your husband will probably go through an interview process in which an investigator will make sure that you were married because you are in love, not so your husband can get a green card or citizenship. They will quiz you on your living arrangements (i.e.- do you sleep in the same bed?) to get a better picture of your marriage.
Once you pass that, your information will be passed on to the FBI for further background checking.
I know that in my state, you have to be married to that individual for 3 years before the government will allow your husband to get a green card/citizenship.
Good luck!
Nothing! If you're talking about an application for citizenship for your foreign spouse.
However, if you follow the process to apply for a visa for your spouse to enter the United States you may have a chance of them granting you permission. That is if you were married in Mexico. If you enter information that indicates that you were married in the United States then the information would raise questions as to how could you marry someone in the US who was never granted permission to be here?
Check that 1st response! You'd better hope for notrhing, what more likely will happen is that the Immigration & Naturalization Service will seek to deport your spouse.
By the way...Immigration is a function of the Federal Government. State governments have no juristriction on immigration. Your best bet is that you backup to the Official process of :
a. Visa to allow your spouse to enter the US
b. If Visa is granted wait 2 years to apply for resident alien card aka "Green Card".
c. Have your spouse assililaate into the US culture, the prevailing language, and learn the history & civics then apply for citizenship.
Good Luck
Maybe You should have got all this information before you married him.
Don't you have any self-respect?
Unfortunately, what happens (9 times out of 10) is once he gets his green card, he divorces you.
You say that you will be the 1 time out of 10?!
How honest is he? Apparently, not very honest or else he would not be ILLEGAL!
And does he have a criminal record (or did he lie about that too?)? With a criminal record he won't be able to adjust his status.
Do you want to know if he REALLY loves you and is not in the marriage for the Green Card? Tell him you want to do it the right way and that you and he should move to Mexico until he gets his clearances.
If he does love you he will do what you want and is right.
If not, then save some money for the divorce and aftermath.
And having a baby NEVER keep an illegal/citizen marriage together. It just makes it more complicated!
I do hope you are the 1 in 10!
My husband is also an illegal immigrant. We are going through a lawyer to get him legal. It is pricey, but a lot safer. The process is going to take a year (all the apps.), and then we have to go back to Mexico for a year to wait for the people in Juarez to process our request. If your husband came here with a Visa, the process is a little diff. You might want to check with a lawyer. Most of them will make a payment plan w/ you.
You must enjoy being used.Love has nothing to do with breaking the laws of our land. The marriage should be annulled,he should be deported and you should question your loyalty to the USA traitor!
Send him back. Harboring a illegal is no better than harboring a fugitive.
How much cash did he pay you?
He would have to go through the naturalization process and the first thing he would have to do is sign the declaration of intent and take some classes and since he's married to you he would only have to wait 3 years to become an american citizen. I'm not sure where he can go at to do all of this though. Maybe you can contact the INS (immigration and naturalization service)
the going rate for marring one $1500.00 dollar's and he pay's for divorce. just to make him a citizen. but cheaper in the long run!!! more money on the tax payer's .not counting welfare for his kid's. just move to mexico with him !!!!!
