"We plan to return to Washington in the next week or two, and light up the phone lines again," said William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration-PAC, a key partner in the grass-roots campaign to defeat the Senate immigration plan.
"We're going to put pressure on Congress, not to stop a bill, but to demand that Congress launch an immediate investigation into the White House to determine what criminal prosecutions may be warranted relating to not enforcing our existing laws," he said. "It's not for the president to decide what laws to obey or enforce. That's not what presidents do. That's what kings do," he said.

YES ! Wouldn`t it be a hoot if the bias` liberal media had to report on the investigative hearings of Congress investigating Congress . The first defendant should be Ted Kennedy , as he sponsored all 7 Illegal Amnesty Bills` over the last 21 years , and has never once demanded any of them be enforced ? Or ; Do like The Great State of Oklahoma has just done . Their State government has passed a no nonsense Anti Illegal Bill that stops` all funding of all programs for non US citizens ! All documentation will be checked for validity . If one is found to have forged ID and using a Social Security that has not been directly issued by the US Government or any false documents pertaining to them getting anything free from a government program, then they will deported !! Businesses` that support the hiring of Illegals are subject to strict rules`, and punishment for hiring an Illegal !

Our government is a joke now. It's hard to say if the U.S. will make it to see another presidential election. It cant even decide what to do with people who are literally swimming into our country. Makes me sad.
Only if they promise not to spend more than $10 on it. The reasons are quite clear and don't need investigating.
1. Illegal immigration is a very important source of cheap labor.
2. The people who depend on this cheap labor are in the income tax bracket which gives them a say in how things are run in this country.
3. The government is aware that a lot of these illegal immigrants actually pay into the federal income tax system and the social security system when they will never be able to get their money back because they are illegal.

Big business and farmers like illegal immigrants. They work cheap, and they can't complain. The business people who use them make political contributions, and politicians like that.
When the will of voters and donors conflict, both major parties tend to side with donors.
Republicans have being business friendly as part of their core beliefs, so it's not a stretch to see them doing this.
Democrats, while seemingly more socially conscious, actually like getting those big business bucks too. Secondarily, they figure those new immigrants will end up voting Democrat since Republicans bash them so overtly.
I heard a border patrol agent interviewed on the radio here in California, and his frustrated comment summed up the problem:
"Some days we were told not to catch anyone because they needed more pickers in the Imperial Valley."

Yes, I would. I would like to know who dropped the ball in not securing the border after 9-11 and who was supposed to be in charge of insuring it didn't happen again after the amnesty of 1986 which was supposed to prevent the illegals coming in large numbers again.

All Americans who wish our immigration laws were followed should be asking why they are not enforced. We should demand that they be! Anyone currently in office who voted for that last "reform bill" needs to be voted OUT as well.

I want to know why some of the people who have sworn to uphold our Constitution are encouraging the open violation of our immigration laws. I also want to know why they can justify not making a distinction between the ones who have openly declared hostility to our country and the others.
Any one who has taken their oath of office is in violation of that oath if they offer any sort of aid or comfort to declared enemies. They have behaved in a criminal manner and need to be investigated; any one found guilty should be treated as a criminal.
I am in! I would support an investigation as to why our laws were not enforced. I doubt whether they well ever get to the bottom of it, though! George Bush needs a lesson on what "we the people" can do! All politicians and elected officials need to take note that they are public servants, put there to carry out the will of the people, not the will of a select few!
