Can I get out the USA without having my plastic Green Card, only 1 year stamp?
Answer:
It appears that you entered the US as an immigrant, and were processed for your green card. If that is so, you may use the entry stamp to leave and return to the US until the card arrives. The stamp is usually valid for one year.
You can get out but you won't get back in.
You must file a I-131 before you leave the country. Failure to do so may cause you to lose permission to re-enter the country, and lead to the denial of any other applications.
Sure just like the illegals cross the border from Mexico you cross it going the other way. Or obtain a boat and leave from the Fla coast. Your problem is returning to the US, and or entering the country you are heading to. Good luck.
Dognhorsemom is right, I seem to be in a similar situation, was granted a GC a few days ago and until it arrives in mail (2-3 months they told me), I can use the stamp in my passport to travel out and in the US for 1 year.
