Do I need my long form Canadian birth certificte to file for my I-485?

I only have my short form (the only birth certificate I've ever had). Our lawyer is saying he wants a long form. But I have an Ontario born colleague (just like me) who used his short form and had no problems getting his greencard. (applying this year). We were born a year apart so he used the same 1970's kind of card I have.

Answer:
Yes you will need the long form.

Don't risk going to your interview with only the short one. They will hold off giving you your Visa until they have the long form Birth Certificate.
