"Myth:" These Border Patrol agents should not have been prosecuted do you agree ? The U.S. Attorney's version of what happened at the border on February 17, 2005 relies almost exclusively on the testimony of an admitted drug smuggler, hardly a trustworthy source. Moreover, as previously noted, it is directly contradicted by compelling physical evidence - the angle of the bullet that struck the drug smuggler. It is clear that the drug smuggler was pointing something at the agents as he ran away, and it was reasonable under the totality of the circumstances for them to assume that the object was a firearm. Since the drug smuggler absconded into Mexico, there was no way that the agents could have recovered his weapon - he took it with him.

Two Border Patrol supervisors arrived at the scene of the incident within minutes after the shooting, and Agents Ramos and Compean overheard some of the agents talking about the shooting in the presence of the supervisors. It would have been logical for them to assume that the supervisors were aware of the shooting. In accordance with the agency firearms policy, employees who participate in or observe a reportable shooting incident are required to "orally report the incident to a supervisor. . . within one hour of the time the incident occurs or within one hour of the time the employee becomes aware of the incident " The maximum penalty for the first instance of failing to do so is a five-day suspension without pay. Several agents did notify the supervisors that Agent Compean had been assaulted, but the supervisor refused to file a report because it would have taken too much time and required notification to the FBI.

My answer is I think they are where they belong and it doesn't matter what anyone in your article thinks, they were convicted and they are in prison. Yawn
I been reading all this stuff and have friends sending emails but I wonder if they would have even been charged if they didn't try to lie about what happened. Did they go to jail for shooting him in the a** or did they go to jail for lying?
I believe that law enforcement officers should be better armed, and should use lethal force against anyone who is in the act of committing a felony.
This drug dealer has profited greatly from his drug dealings, while his victim drug addicts have died and many Americans have had their property, taxes and lives ruined from these crimes. Stop racist exploitation and seal the border against illegal invasion.
What a joke these men are hero's and should be treated as such. They where doing there job no more no less. Let them be free!!!!!!!!
The problem in America is all the political correctness garbage. The government treats criminals like murderers and rapists and drug dealers like they are human when in fact they are "Garbage" or "Basura" whichever you prefer. The government "claims" that the drug cartels are a "huge" problem but when in this instance low life drug smuggler is eliminated there is a problem. I don't understand it beyond the point of "who is on who's side" and "who is really running the country" and what are the "ulterior motives". It's like how the drugs were allowed to "flow" into black communities in an effort to reduce and destroy the quality of life for black people. When I heard the story about the border control agents I was really totally dumbfounded and in a state of disbelief. Is anyone in control?

Oh there is a cover up alright but not on the part of the border agents. I have spent many hours on the computer and watching news reports....and writing the White House, I send an email a day. I plan on doing that until they are released with a full pardon.
The fact that the department of homeland security will not turn over documents spell out a cover up..no doubt. But if we don't let it die we will prevail..I have to believe this.
