Do you agree With Charlie Daniels on Illegal Immigration?
Since when did the United States of America become a nation that enforces certain laws on its books and ignores others?
When did we become selective in those we prosecute in breaking our long established laws?
I can tell you when. When we elected a bunch of power hungry, reckless politicians and yes that unfortunately goes right into both houses of Congress and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I'm sorry to say.
On the one hand we put people in prison, and rightfully so, for breaking and entering. Yet we let illegal aliens break and enter every day on our international borders.
The politicians claim that a bill giving amnesty to unknown millions of illegals would be good for the economy of our country, that they take jobs that Americans won't do. That they work for lower wages and that should send
an undeniable signal right there who wants this legislation. Big business can dilute the labor market, bring wages down and finish the job started by NAFTA and moving their manufacturing plants out of the country that buys the
bulk of their product.
The only other group who would benefit are the politicians who are salivating over the new voters they can pick up. It could well be the death of an effective two party system, yet many of the republicans are going along as naive as sheep being led to slaughter. Which in effect they are.
Just how long do you think that these millions of new citizens are going to take the low paying jobs when they find out they can make a living accepting the entitlements the politicians will be willing to lay at their doorsteps?
Can you say welfare state?
All these greedy politicians want to do is stay in power, the hell with the American economy, the hell with the small businessman and the hell with what most of the people who pay the bills in this country think and want.
Do you think that Ted Kennedy suffers when the economy goes south? Do you think he worries about crime in the street? Ever hear of the Kennedy compound in Hyannis, Mass?
A word of warning, some very powerful politicians, including the President, are determined to pass an immigration bill one that in my opinion, could well change the United States from the world's last super power to another
also ran. One who does not enforce it's laws and invites anybody who wants to come on in and help break America.
The only thing wrong with the laws we have on the books now is that our elected officials refuse to enforce them.
So what makes them think we'd trust them to enforce a new set of immigration laws, even bad ones?
Well I don't know about you but I'm mad and I'm not going to forget which way my Congressmen and Senators vote. In Tennessee we have one Senator and several Congressmen who will have to go through an election this coming year and I'm going to make sure that I'm in a voting booth to let my opinion be known.
I would strongly advise you to do the same thing.

I totally agree with him, kick all illegals out of OUR country, they come over here and do nothing for us but take jobs that Americans should have, and when people say well Americans dont want them, prove it, they send all their money back to Mexico to their families and take the money out of OUR economy. Then they come over to the USA with no skills, no English, nothing, and yet we treat them like first class citizens, we all have to learn a different language to make them feel wanted. I mean if I was to go live in a different country I would have to learn their language and a way to support myself without taking money away from that countries ecomomy, so why is it Mexicans get a free pass when they come across the border, and they can do whatever they want? and even commit crimes and drive, I have to take tests to drive, Jose and Maria come across and it seems like they have one already waiting for them ..for the love of all things sacred get illegals out of OUR country..

That is what I have been saying to all the pro illegals. When the illegals can finally get welfare, do you really think they will continue to do the jobs that the Americans do not HAVE to do when they can make more money on welfare? No and who is paying for it? I have my own family that I have to support and a car that I have to pay $3.50 a gallon to feed. Since when did it become MY job to support illegal immigrants and other countries? Every country automatically assumes that us (US of A) has to pay for every other country and that everyone is rich that lives here. We have our own people that we need to help. These other countries need to stop holding their hand out towards us and fix their own country. The Iraqi people didn't have the balls to stand up to Saddam so guess what US of A to the rescue (yes he did deserve to die)! And now Mexico wants us to support their law breakers and drug dealers? No thank you, maybe the President of Mexico should clean up his country and get rid of the drug lords and do what's best for HIS people? No he just nudges them over the border smiling at us and waving goodbye. So who are the lazy ones?
Unfortunately Copeland, I can't make a politician do what I tell them to do just like a pro illegal can't make me change my mind about my views. I have faxed my reps (numbersusa.com) and they still voted yes to amnesty. These politicians are called out in the media but it does not faze them. They have their own beliefs and sometimes they change their mind, like Hilary Clinton for one. Do you see where I am going with this? You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. So why should I be blamed when a politician changes his/her mind or doesn't listen to me.
First, I agree with do we or do we not enforce existing laws. Before Congress develops a new law, they should decide if it is truly enforceable.
I don't believe we should give blanket amnesty to every immigrant. I believe there should be back ground check of there activities here and abroad. If they are a undesirable, then we don't need more problems. Send them back. If they are a productive member of society, let's keep them. But, this is going to cost money and time. But, if we are not selective, then the cost and time will be higher.
I agree about the politicians doing/saying anything for a vote. I believe a majority of them are looking out for #1 and that is not their job. They have voted on large raises, for examples. Another example is the hot check scandal a few years ago. If I had wrote those checks, I would have been thrown in jail.
The American public is to blame for this. A lot of people do not vote. Those who do are not informed voters, but vote for a party. Or, they vote for a certain issue. We need to vote based on who we believe will do the best job for the general public as a whole.
Another problem is the public does not take action to change how the Congress votes. We can write letters or send in signed petitions. If the elected officials do not do what we ask, then we should go public with their actions. The media is always willing to help trash someone.
The American public needs to take a stand on their beliefs. If someone does not believe in having immigrants, then they should give up their maids or gardeners. We preach one thing while doing another.
