Tancredo is neither a monster nor a racist. Miami does have a bad reputation for crime. Not so long ago, Haitian gangs were robbing tourists and killing people that wandered into their neighborhoods.
Tancredo, unfortunately, is a one trick pony. He should realize that if he is going to make statements like that one, he had better be correct and on the money. Since he works in Washington, DC, he should realize that crime and murders there are worse than Miami. He doesn't see the crime in DC the same way YOU do not see it in Miami.

While i don't agree with everything he said, he does make a few points. There is a saying in Florida "will the last American to leave Miami, please bring the flag"?
It is really a statement that people who used to call Miami home and grew up there, moved out because of the changes that rampant immigration have caused. Not all of it for the good I might add.
You may remember that the British Government had to issue tourist warnings for its citizens several years ago, as they were being targeted as they left the airport in rental cars.
Miami is not as bad as Tancredo made it sound though. You can't just visit once and make such radical statements.

It's common knowledge that if you are running from the law, the safest city for you is Miami.
A crime has to be reported in order to be a crime.
However, having been in Detroit, IMO if all the crime in Miami was reported, Detroit would still have a higher crime rate.
