I teach them the golden rule and that sometimes the law is not up to that standard. Sometimes we need to change the law to live up to the golden rule.
Any parent should teach their child to respect others and the law. Also, most should get their kids in sports instead of having them play videos and watch the idiot box all the time.

Go ahead and make your excuse for illegals and use 'the golden rule.' Yes, I would like to be treated a certain way, THEN AGAIN, I do everything abiding by the LAW!! I don't go where I am not allowed and make demands and set standards that I need to be treated by. If I wanted to move to another country, I would do it the correct way, I would learn the language, and I would not undermine any laws of that country. So I would expect to be treated the way that I treat people. I would also expect to be treated like a criminal if I broke the law.
I live by the golden rule. Unfortunately for you, most of us are also taught that we should obey the law. How can you lecture us about the golden "rule" when you are obviously trying to make some clever pro-illegal-immigrant point. If they followed the rules, none of us would be having this discussion.

I do teach him respect and to be kind to others but I also tell him not to turn the other cheek as it will only be slapped as well.
your right. i have also told my kids if they brake the law and go to jail don't cry about it. we have to keep o our kids, even if we sound like a broken record. in the end we will have great results. the trust goes to a limit.
The Golden rule? I wholeheartedly believe in it.but why does that only apply to Americans?
1. Only professionals or investors can immigrate to the country. No unskilled laborers will be allowed in. Investors must be able to invest at least 40,000 times the daily average wage. If they can't, they are not allowed in.
2. Immigrants may purchase property, but locations and availability will be limited. Ocean front property cannot be purchased by immigrants. It is exclusively for citizens born in the country.
3. Immigrants cannot vote nor can they be elected to any public office.
4. Immigrants cannot collect any type of government assistance.
5. Immigrants cannot protest the countries government, policies or president
6. Immigrants cannot display a flag of a foreign country.
7. Immigrants who have illegally entered the country will be found and imprisoned.
Sound kind of harsh? Well, these are laws that are currently part of the Immigration Laws of, you guessed it, MEXICO!
