If you want to work in the USA you need to have a job offer from an American company who can prove they cannot find a UA Citizen or Permanent Resident who can do the job. The company will then take care of the visa paperwork at their end before you have to fill in your forms and be interviewed in London.
you need a green card not a visa as the uk is part of the visa waver program
uscis.gov has the options, but you would likely need to wait until April when h1b visas open again.
You would normally have to go through the US Embassy, and apply for one through that. They are quite hard to get, as I struggled alot. I came over on a waver visa if thats what it was, now I have to apply for a green card which is going to take up to 18 months to get and over $1000. Good luck to you getting one.
