The "comprehensive" bill...is it done for?
Answer:
It's dead. Even if it is brought back in the Senate and somehow passes there, it won't get past the House without a mass of further changes. Too many have reversed themselves on this bill to keep it alive any longer. The Republican's (other than Bush and McCain) do not want this thing around any longer...its drying up their coffers, and infuriating their voters.
I would much rather have no bill than this bill.
They need to close our border and make further illegal immigration disappear (or made insignificant). Once that is done...then perhaps we could have a discussion on what to do with the ones we have...but until then.business as usual.
Hopefully so. Any "bill" that leads to amnesty for any of the illegal aliens is a disgusting bill.
If we are going to make anybody citizens, do it to those immigrating here LEGALLY.
It's over with, luckily. Any bad legislation (most) is worse than not doing anything.
We need to legalize the existing population but NOT BEFORE CLOSING THE BORDER. You stop the leak before mopping the water.
Is it done for? ... one can but hope! Yes, no bill is better than a rotten one at this point. Depends on how politically powerful the presidential hopefuls think it is. Currently our government is having difficulty being "for the people" and is busy being "for the politician and the votes".
I certainly hope so.
And yes.
And we need a bill that addresses the impact of illegal immigration on Americans and on our schools and services as its main thrust.
I doubt we will get one in this administration, however.
No , they will keep bringing it back again and again till they wear every body down and get it passed . Congress will go into closed session and twist arms to get it passed .
We don't need another bill , they just need to enforce the laws we have .
If they can;t or won't enforce them , what makes you think they will enforce the new ones .
