Why do people compare LEGAL immigration to the ILLEGAL aliens?
I am all for legal immigration. (My mother LEGALLY immigrated from Canada.) However, I am strongly against ILLEGAL aliens and feel they should back in their home country. They are destroying America!
Answer:
I was actually pleasantly surprised that so many people here actually understand the difference between legal immigrants and illegal aliens.
Most of the people I've spoken to, and the number would surprise you (I'm a ranking Minuteman), are actually pro legal immigration. What Americans find particularly offensive are people breaking our laws then demanding to be treated better than citizens and legal immigrants.
They can't justify it so they rant over and over and over again, and try to tarnish the law abiding legal immigrant with their dirty illegal acts thinking that the average citizen isn't smart enough to know the difference.
It's because the "alienists" want to lump all of the good, hard-working, law-abiding immigrants who did things the right way, with the illegal immigrants who lied, stole, cheated, and did just about everything else (even somehow affording to pay coyotes upwards of $5000 to help them get into the US, even though they are supposed to be so poor; something that is quite perplexing to me) the wrong way to get here. This is the only way that they can "legitimize" illegal immigration; otherwise, if they didn't do so, they know that 290 million other Americans out there would figure them out (which many of us already have).
Our crooked politicians from Bush to most of congress have encouraged and allowed this travesty to continue. The are not doing it out of stupidity or lazyness but greed. Greed on Bushs part for the corporations and the Dems are doing it for breeding more voters. Jail the politicians I say.
cuz they both gotta do wit immigration
I wish I knew. By law yes there is only immigration, we do not even have to put in the legal part. Illegal aliens is what those are called by law, those who are in our country illegally. I to am for immigration, legal immigration.
what part of STOP LABELING PEOPLE LIKE IF THEY ARE OBJECTS don't you guys understand? Legal or Illegal they come for the same reason. Difference is, most legals don't need it as bad and they have 10 years of time, while illegals NEED to work in order to FEED their families. Minutemen should learn from those they are trying to stop and find a real job instead of being worthless at the border twiddling their thumbs until they have the opportunity to torture those coming here.
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
That is in the statue of liberty.
Yes to the reform and to amnesty.
I agree with your question! LEGAL immigration makes sure that the country is safe from those who want to do the country harm...like those with a criminal background and those that have major illnesses like TB and Hepatitis who want to work in our food industry or in the medical field. Illegal aliens create many more problems than they solve and should all be deported back to their country of origin. They are not US citizens and should not be here.
you are so right. they don't know the difference between the two words. and they call us illiterate.
The problem is in the identity and interpretation and application of appropriate phraseology...for one thing...these "immigrants' you are referring to are not Imgrants, they are REFUGEES'S.
Untill, and unless Americans get a grip on what causes this many people to flee there country, the 'problem' will only escalate.
Why we Americans refuse to acknowledge that Mexico is our Ugaqnda, escapes me.
This is not an Imigration problem... it is a political-power issue that will only escalate as time goes by.
Ignoreing, minimizeing, distracting, obscureing, confuseing, the issue with rhetoric and burocracratic horse appels will not solve the causes or reasons Mexico's unrepresented peopels are fleeing that country.
You can attempt to illegally immigrate , using false documents or a family members documents and trying to pose your self off as someone else (identiy theft), so the term can apply?????
This part:
The "law" that decides whether or not somebody can come here based on winning a "lottery" or having already flied a plane into the world trade center!!!!!
I am sure it is not news to tell you that throughout history AND in the present day there have been laws treating Women, Jews, Blacks AND Hispanics differently!
Calm down, I do not claim our immigration laws are racist. My point is that if somebody WANTS to be here, WANTS to assimilate, AND gives more back to a country than they take from it then the LAW should be CHANGED so that they CAN stay here.
Why do so many people have a problem with this?
Every wave of immigration, legal or illegal, pushes black and other low-income groups further down the economic ladder as immigrants will almost always work for lower wages. Many immigrants fight their countries wars from our shores. This fragments communities along ethnic lines and is not in our best interest. History teaches that multicultural/multiethnic societies are unstable. Every day state and local authorities are forced to deal with a Babble of languages yet politicians are too timid to make English our national language. Language is the glue that binds a nation together.
One-fourth of our prison populations are immigrants and almost one-third of families below the poverty line are immigrants. As soon as one immigrant family rises above the poverty line, another wave of immigration places another family in their place; thus, the never-ending cycle of poverty will continue forever. This may be one reason the poverty rate has stayed at about 10% for almost thirty years. No matter how much money the government pumps in, the poverty rate remains unchanged.
Many legal and illegal immigrants perceive the U.S. as a soft touch and flock to our shores to take advantage of the American taxpayer. When calling in to a radio program one illegal immigrant said, "What a country--they even pay you to make babies then make them American citizens!" Isn't it time to let our politicians know we want to put an end to this madness?
I dont like legal immigrants, go home, parasit, job stealer!!.
The system is clogged with the illegal folks and legal ones cannot get the permanent residency status. I am not against the illegal immigration but 'government' should hire more officials to process the immigration stuff.
People compare them because they are naive and are probably an illegal alien themselves. Which further proves their lack of education. I wouldn't worry about it too much, they can only get so far being that naive.
Are We a Nation of Immigrants?
It is true that our forefathers were immigrants, which makes the statement of "we are a nation of immigrants" seem to apply, if only in a historical context. This historical fact provides the mantra with a 'ring-of-truth.' This explains why, when the pro-illegal alien crowd throws down the 'we are a nation of immigrants' gauntlet, we accede to its premise! More accurately however, there is no doubt that today we are a nation consisting largely of NATIVE Americans NOT immigrants. However, because the 'nation of immigrants' sound-bite implies an underlying assumption of a 'historical accuracy' it makes it difficult to attack the mantra as inaccurate, because 'on its face' it appears to be a 'truism!'
The problem is, that once we accept the mantra we are "a nation of immigrants" as a 'truism' we no longer examine or think about what those words actually say or mean. We don't even understand what impact such assertions have upon reality! Nor, as typical Americans, will we have the time to consider what a profound effect there is in accepting such an unchallenged sound-bite! What are the effects on our American culture, society and self-perceptions if we accept this mantra as spoken and implied?
The War of Words
Unfortunately, in this 'war of words' . . . those who control the semantics, in this case the illegal alien lobby, guarantees that the choice of words and phrases used will essentially control the debate. That is why the pro-illegals crowd will NEVER use the word "illegal" in conjunction with "immigrants," so that when they refer to our country as a "nation of immigrants," they are able to obfuscate and blur what should be a perfectly clear view of very contrary facts!
In a very subtle but complex way, the illegal alien lobby is getting most Americans to submissively place themselves on par with those illegal "immigrants" who are invading our 'nation of immigrants!' By controlling the dialogue the pro-crowd has taken the issue out of our control, and placed it in the hands of those countries who are exporting their citizens. It is a form of psychological warfare, using propaganda as a support for illegal aliens, primarily from Hispanic and Latino countries, who are demographically overwhelming our country. It is propaganda meant to disarm Americans so that we will not resist the "human tsunami" of some 23 million illegal aliens that have already invaded and balkanized America, and continue to arrive at a rate of 10,000 per day Unfortunately the pacification seems to be working, since most Americans, along with the media, have readily accepted the notion that 'we are a nation of immigrants' as being true and factual!
The 'New' Mantras
Insidiously, the pro-illegal alien crowd has already begun to move away from the term 'immigration' by calling it 'migration,' or 'migrant' instead of 'immigrant' in order to imply that there is some irresistible force of nature that impels them to illegally invade America. This is said in contravention of 'fact and truth,' because we all know that the 'migration' exists because of America's disgraceful governmental policy of 'open borders' and non-enforcement of immigration law. All of which are done in order to appease the desires of avaricious and dishonest employers and to pander to the Hispanic voter. The pro-illegal alien crowd hopes that we will make another leap of faith by concluding and accepting the new propaganda of 'migrant' and 'migration,' rendering "We the People" impotent once again!
The pro-illegal alien lobby believes we will continue to 'roll over' and accept any new terminology they stridently provide because we have never challenged their 'nation of immigrants' mantra! The pro-illegal alien crowd believes it has found us willing dupes in believing that our nation of native Americans descended of LEGAL immigrants is somehow equivalent to the ILLEGAL immigrants they support! They believe us dupes because we permit thousands of illegal aliens to clog our streets in protest DEMANDING their 'RIGHTS' when they are here in violation of our laws and should have no 'rights!' They should be in jail or deported, not 'aided and abetted' by police permits that allows them to flaunt their illegal presence in our streets which only serves to embolden them further. If we continue to be politely pc (i.e., politically castrated) and overly timid in challenging such propaganda and outrageous 'in your face' flaunting of our laws . . . we allow THEM to control the language AND the debate!
*chuckles at the 15 yr. old illegal alien above*
I agree. Many of them are uneducated, or teenyboppers, or self-centered "la raza" and don't care about the impact of the illegal alien invasion on American society.
