Illegal immigrant?

Most people (American citizens) I hear talking about immigration where I live think that all illegal immigrants should be deported right this second. But what those people don't understand is that some illegal immigrants are here and don't want to be here, I'm an exaple of that. I'm not Mexican, but I am here illegally but I didn't choose to come here, I was 10 years old when I came here, I'm 20 years old now and I'm in college. My question is: why should I be deported when I was forced to come here with my family and why should my life be ruined because I don't have a piece of paper saying I'm a legal resident of US?

Answer:
i believe that if you have been in the us for 10 years as you say its quite simple for you to become legal, it requires paying some fines and getting a lawyer to help sort though the paper work, it cost my ex husband about 3000 all together to get it sorted out. I don't personally thing all illegals should be deported. I think that country's like the US and UK should have an open door policy allowing anyone who wants to move here to do so providing they follow some rules, obviously they should have to pass a screening (previous history of violent crime that sort of thing) i also think they should be given 6 months to find a job and a place to live. if after 6 months they have a job which can support them and or their family, and a place to live, they should be allowed to stay for 3 years working and paying taxes and becoming part of their community, and only after 3 years of not getting in trouble, being employed and paying their taxes then they should qualify for government benefits and be offered the chance of permanent residence.
Simply because the whacko Christian Fundamentalists who like lemmings politically vote "en bloc" control much of the agenda in the US and as far as their "theology" is concerned ,the Bible says ... "..and the sins of the father shall fall upon his offspring" .

Although offered in jest, there is vein of truth here.
Forgive me, but I do not believe you! If you are 20 years old and in College, then how is it that you do not know how to spell [example], or how to use the free [Check Spelling]?
It is not our fault that your are here illegally. But, how much of our paid taxes have you and your Family used in the 10 years you have been here illegally? Who is paying for your education?
You are an Illegal, and do not belong here. Leave, and apply for legal entry.
If its so bad, then leave. Being 20 you can grab the next plane and go back to where you came from .
I think if you went back to where you came from ,you would be shocked at what there is and miss what you left behind.
No matter what you are stil illegal and can be removed, AT 18 you should have tried to get your paperwork going to become a resident (legal).
I personally think a few exceptions should be made especially for those who were brought here as children and have spent their entire life in the US education system (which by the way was at the taxpayers expense and a big part of the reason why taxpayers are so angry). My question is why do you not apply for citizenship, you are in college and would be a contributing member of society and would very likely be approved, in fact I think you would be an easy case for citizenship. If you did receive citizenship you could then start paying back the US for the benefits you illegally received that were meant for US citizens and paid for by US taxpaying citizens by paying correct taxes.

We have to do something we have to draw the line somewhere this is getting out of control I watched a border camera the other day and people were crossing every second it looked like a shopping mall parking lot (with sand instead of pavement). We have to put a stop to the open flow and handle what we have now by either deporting or people applying for LEGAL citizenship.

Anyway I wish you good luck, yours is a situation that has been caused by the lack of respect to the laws of this country and I personally see you as an innocent (up to this point but you MUST get legal) - also I apologize for the comments you are about to receive but what you need to understand is that people are FEED UP...

Any nation that opens its borders to any non-citizen that wants to come in will eventually cease to exist.
Oh well. stuff happens. We'll cry you a river as we wave good by.
Laws are laws. I can come up with a million excuses when I get caught speeding, but I still get a ticket.
I sympathize BUT.
We all like to think that our parents will make decisions that will be good for the family. Unfortunately your parents chose to break US entry laws and risk deportation.
The fact that they were not caught and sent home does not change the crime or punishment.
Every society/country has laws that control the number of foreigners that are authorized entry to live/work/study.
...Your parents forced you to come and subjected you to the worry and fear that your illegal status could change your life.
I personally find that to be a very cruel thing for parents to do to their child...
..You attend college and maybe receive funds that actually should be used for American kids...maybe you don't but you do occupy a slot that might have been filled by an American kid.
I DO sympathize with your anger and concern BUT your anger should be directed at your parents as they "ruined your life" when they chose to include you in their crime..
Every human wants things or desires something better or greater opportunity but not all humans chose to expose their kids to a life of deceit and risk punishment which will apply to the family...
You may feel that your life is ruined because you don't have a piece of paper but change is not lethal and many find it exhilarating even if its strange and different.
"But what those people don't understand is that some illegal immigrants are here and don't want to be here"
If you don't want to be here, then leave the USA. You are 20, work and get a flight or whatever to your country. Yo don't have to be here if you don't want to.
Sorry, but I have no sympathy. If you don't want to be here, you are free to leave anytime.
Are the American taxpayers footing the bill for your college education? We already paid for your high school education.
Blame your situation on your parents,it is their fault and no one else's that you are in this situation. There is no excuse for not trying to make yourself legal, you are an adult now.
You are here illegally and can be deported at any time. That might free up a college spot for an American citizen who deserves it.
heres where the governement went wrong, they didnt deport you 10 years ago, the even furth worse part is they let you into college, there are 1000's of kids that are legal citizens of america and they got rejected from colleges because of affirmative action. I know that 1% of all illegal immigrants are deported each year, thats a low percent. Its true if you dont like america you should just leave, i dont care where you go personally, but if your working right now, then take that money itll prolly triple in mexico or brazil, and youll have plenty of money to live comfortable, illegals like you take jobs and college spots from native born americans.
You said you are here illegally but don't want to be.you are free to leave. You also state that you don't want to be here but "All I can do is stay here and hope for a law that can give me the documents I need to stay here legally"...why would you want this since you don't want to be here? If it is such a bad idea that you go back where you came from then perhaps you can apply for refuge status somewhere you will be happier (you will need to do this legally though). I understand your parents brought you here illegally when you were 10 and you had no say in the matter...your parents put you in this situation, not us...your complaint needs to be with them.
