Citizenship help please!?

if a child has both US and UK citizenship, are they able to keep both after they turn 18 years old, or do they have to choose which one they want to keep?

Answer:
Britian allows for dual citizenship. However, the US only recognises US citizenship (in other words the child would be American only). You can have both but there have been stories of people who have had problems in the past with the American side.

Sorry I mean that the recognise only the US citizenship. They do allow dual but for some reason they only look at the US side. In other words you could hold dual citizenship but in the eyes of US law you'd only be American.
They can keep both. A few countries allow dual citizenship, UK, US, Ireland, etc are a few. One concern, they will be bound by both US and UK laws.
They are entitled to keep both citizenships for life, even if they never reside in either country. Acyla is wrong: both the UK and the US allow dual citizenship.
Hey I 'm a living example, I 'm half US and half British and I have 2 passports and duel citizenship of both country's. But I have a further problem, I live in Poland and my wife is Polish and we have a five year old daughter, Mmmmm, does that mean she is entitled to three citizenship's Polish, US, and British?
